The Krogen Manatee 36 is, quite simply, the largest 36’ boat on the water. Anything but a traditional hull design, she is broad in the beam as her namesake suggests. With her full beam interior living space, the Manatee was designed to be the perfect live aboard cruiser and has maintained something of a cult following as a result. Her shoal draft, fully protected propeller, great living accommodations and a fuel sipping 1100 mile range at 7 knots make her a natural choice for economical coastal cruising, doing the Great Loop or just having a great liveaboard.
There were only 99 of these rugged little ships built. Our offering, “UGLY DUCKLING” is a single stateroom version; these were so popular among cruising couples that very few two stateroom models were built. The unique single level design permits more useable space and the extensive use of solid teak provides a warm and inviting feel. The galley space is incredible. The design worked out so perfectly that James Krogen, the designer, liked the boat so much that’s what he chose for his own.
The Manatee hull and cabin sides are of fiberglass sandwich construction with closed-cell PVC foam core heavy hand lay-up using mat and roving. This state-of-the-art construction makes this one of the most enduring and safest Motor Yachts for sale today. Closed-cell PVC foam core does not deteriorate or absorb water. The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material, shock, sound and temperature insulator. It rides quiet, increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull. Decks area fiberglass sandwich construction with end-grain balsa core. All joiner work, paneling, cabinetry
The protected aft deck is a great place for relaxing at the end of the day and is fully enclosed as well as
Whether you are looking for a boat to do the Loop, the Bahamas, or coastal cruising- or just want to simplify your life and live aboard- “UGLY DUCKLING” just might be the boat you want to do it in. Call and make an appointment to come see her today!
