Overview

The Luhrs 290 Open will appeal to experienced anglers seeking a capable offshore fishing platform at an affordable price. She’s built on a relatively lightweight modified-V hull with cored hull sides, a well-flared bow, and a wide 11 foot 6 inch beam. Her cockpit is large enough for a full-size chair and includes two in deck fish boxes, a transom door, and a smaller fish box built into the transom. The helm is located on the centerline with excellent visibility and the entire bridgedeck lifts up for easy access to the step-down engine compartment. The cabin of the 290 is somewhat unique: the head is forward and there are swing-up pilot berths over the port and starboard settees. A small galley is aft and the interior is nicely trimmed with teak. Notable features include a standard tower wit buggy top and controls, transom door, bait prep station, bow pulpit, and side-dumping exhausts.
