Overview

The “JIA”  Marlow 53E 2017 has been such an amazing Marlow Explorer yacht for the family who owns it that they decided to build another Marlow Explorer 62E model! This 53E Marlow is built with exceptional thought and decision making knowing exactly what they wanted from the beginning of the process. As was stated “they had no idea they would love it so much they ended up living on board for over 5 months” at a time and turning life into a wonderful adventure while still being able to work at more leisurely pace. “JIA”  is well equipped with upgraded Cummins QSM 11 715hp twin diesel engines giving her a top speed of up to 23

knots when running from a storm or night fall. In addition, she will gently cruise at 18 knots while scarcely sipping the fuel at even slower speeds. “JIA”  can run fast when needed with

amazing performance and economy as well as trawling speeds moving gingerly through many desired northern and eastern waterways such as Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Island in Massachusetts. She also loves cruising down easterly in the winters and down to the South Florida waterways and hopping over to the Caribbean Islands for wonderful play times while snorkeling, diving off the coral reefs and swimming in white sandy beaches with many days filled with the sun and fun!

Today the US Navy and other militaries of the world are embracing composites for superstructures to improve speed, protection from attack and seaworthiness, while increasing comfort. Our Marlow boats are built with a similar however very special propriety construction process utilizing David Marlow’s RIVAT (resin infused vacuum assisted transfer) method giving the vessel the incredible strength and endurances like the military grade vessels. Along with using hearty construction and the highest-grade materials made of cupronickel and carbon fiber, she is built for the long-lasting life span and modern efficiency and seaworthiness of offshore ocean-going vessels.

Deck and Hull

The beautiful Oyster White hull with Flag Blue boot stripe and dark bottom paint gives the boat an elegance of magnitude. She has Moondust colored nonskid decking throughout the exterior of the boat and is easily maintained with a wash down feature installed. The bilges are so smooth using a special white gel-coating for a neat and tidy always clean looking finish like the rest of the exterior and decks on the yacht.

The interior flooring is teak and holly satin finished exotic wood and hand made by our talented Marlow artisans at our own Marlow factory. These artisans used the entire Burmese teak tree and hand crafted throughout the boat from its original state. It is widely known that for every tree used we plant 10 more trees to make sure and keep our facility to an environmentally conscious capacity. The lower deck is also hand crafted using the lovely Birds Eye Maple woods with teak trim for a lighter and stylish open look.

The Marlow Explorer is one of the few yachts in the world whose manufacturer has taken the time to optimize the basic hull design. Most yachts built today are very similar to each other and their predecessors over the last 30 years. When you see a Marlow Explorer on land you notice very quickly that the yacht is blocked at the bow like every other boat, but at the stern she is sitting on her own proprietary twin Velocijet Strut Keels. The propellers are positioned with a prop pocket gaining the ability to be well above the bottom of the keels and it is obvious that a light grounding on a sand bar will only result in some worn bottom paint to the keels without ever touching or harming the props! What is not so obvious is how these strut keels will make the boat handle in a following sea. The lateral resistance provided makes the boat track straight with very little rudder correction required.

There are no seams from the transom to the bow, including the Portuguese bridge due to the single molding piece of the deck giving the yacht unimaginable strength in heavy seas, squalls and horrendous storms. The windshields and side windows are tinted glass and laminated with a layer of 3M Hurricane shield to a total thickness of 13mm, twice what most builders use in vessels below 100'!

getting directly to the main systems control station quickly or as needed.

VIP Stateroom

The VIP stateroom forward has a center-line island queen berth with large dove tailed handmade drawers under the berth. Artistically built on each side above the berth are uniquely designed storage shelves. The cabinet space with teak slats and a double button locking system adds to the storage and spaciousness of the VIP guest room. All the cabinetry has inventive teak accents. There is twin cedar lined full height hanging lockers. There is 15" flat screen TV that is mounted on the aft wall of the stateroom. This stateroom has a CD stereo and berth reading lights. A large single screened overhead hatch provides natural light and fresh air and can also be opened for star gazing on balmy evenings. The head and shower is conveniently located on the starboard side.

VIP Head

There is a full size head with separate stall shower accessible from the stateroom or the companionway to allow use as a day head. The Lexan shower door is a beautiful curved shape framed in solid teak to make the best use of the space. Both the head and the shower have exhaust fans vented outside the vessel. The sink is an under-mounted china bowl on a beautiful top finish. The teak and holly sole are excellent for an elegance and comfort for all guests.

Port Guest Stateroom

The third stateroom is on the port side of the vessel at the base of the stairs from the Pilothouse. This stateroom provides two comfortable bunks and a cedar-lined hanging locker. There is a 15" flat screen TV on the aft bulkhead viewable from the berths and a CD player and radio.
