MERRITT BOAT WORKS is a shipyard, founded in 1947 in Florida, Pompano Beach. It builds and sells the yachts. It is a family organization that manages the business today since the company was founded. At first, the manufacturer built mostly the engines.

The Merritt surname represents the growth of shipbuilding industry in South Florida. After leaving Long Island in 1947, Franklin (Roy) and Ennis Merritt bought 10 acres of land in Pompano Beach, Florida. In 1948, the Merritt shipyard and engine plant were established. The reputation of the family shipyard was growing with time. The buyers highly appreciated the high quality of the vessels produced by this organization. Therefore, the shipyard received more customers. High standards in the shipbuilding were maintained by the company for the last 70 years.

In 1955, the shipyard began to build the speedboats. The speedboat construction was carried out by the sons of the married couple who founded the shipyard. Buddy and Allen are the avid fisherman, so under their leadership the shipyard acquired the status of a company that produces the excellent boats for sports fishing and speed boats.
