Overview
M/S NAVIGATOR – Maritime traditions and Nordic luxury
M/S NAVIGATOR is a riveted steel ship built in 1941. This unique and traditional vessel
has been fully refitted paying full attention to Danish quality and design traditions.
Tender: Zodiac RIB / 5.5 meters / 115 hp
The history of M/S NAVIGATOR relates to Danish maritime traditions and the Port of
Copenhagen. The ship was originally built as a cable ship in 1941 per the highest
standards of the industrial area. Subsequently, in 1962 it was rebuilt as a training vessel
for Danish merchant marine officers.
During the period 2005 - 2011 M/S NAVIGATOR was renovated while paying respect to
the historical value of this unique sample of the official Danish fleet. The ship went
through an exhaustive overhaul, cosmetically but also in its functionality. It was decided
to preserve the original exterior appearance as well as the interior of the crew quarters.
Likewise, the machine room was refitted per its original design while adding elements
required by today’s standards. The remainder of the ship’s interior has on the contrary
been fully updated per Danish quality and interior design traditions.
Gentle environmental footprints
M/S NAVIGATOR pays respect to the environment. Remarkably low fuel consumption
marks the difference between traditional and modern naval dimensioning. On board, it is
the policy of the crew to observe minimum waste and consumption.
The central brass-plated hall (3) connects all three interior decks.
On the boat deck you find a large saloon (1) and the wheel house (2).
The main deck, aft of the hall (3) has a the dining/meeting room (4) with a table seating up to 12 guests followed by the galley (5). In front of the hall a single stateroom (6) with a big bathroom (7) and a guest toilet (8). Next to the stateroom the captain’s cabin (9) is
situated.
On tween deck you find a very large suite (10) with a private entrance hall and a large
bathroom (11). Here you also find two double staterooms (12) + (13) – each with en suite
bathrooms. Further the tween deck contains a crew cabin (14) and a laundry room (15).
Crew quarters (16) are situated on the main deck and the tween deck aft.
The floors are “floating” and the lining is fitted with rubber absorbers to minimize noise
and vibrations. Most of the floors and the main staircase in the hall are covered with lava
clinker from mount Edna/Sicily; all furniture is manufactured in teak. As a counter balance to the modern interior the original doors, door handles, fire alarm bells and internal communication system have been refitted.
