15. REFIT NOTES 2016 / 2017 |
|
This 55m superyacht recently underwent a full 10-month refit at Burgess Marine in the UK including interiors, minor structural, mechanical and electrical modifications and the installation of new Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers.
The comprehensive interior refit saw Design Unlimited tasked with redesigning the entire lower guest and owner’s accommodation. The owner’s suite was extensively modified and extended with one of the old guest cabins converted to provide the owner with an impressive study leading into an enlarged new owner’s stateroom. Both forward and aft saloons were also re-configured to accommodate the owner’s wish to create a less formal, calm, comfortable use of the space and the dining area underwent a complete refurbishment.
The refit also involved an extension to the aft end of the upper deck to increase the exterior seating and social spaces with a new impressive exterior dining area. The interior decoration scheme has a sense of glamour and luxury with detailed, textured fabrics which create a calm and comfortable ambience. The colour palette is harmonious as the colour schemes for each area are unique and yet the scheme flows throughout the entire yacht. Fabrics are from Zimmer and Rohde, Lizzo and Jim Thompson and Sculptural Porta Romana lighting add to the glamorous look.

16. COMMENTS |
|
LADY A represents a unique market opportunity, being a stunning example of Jon Bannenberg design that is fresh from an intensive year-long refit at Burgess Marine.
First launched in 1986 and built in Japan by Nishii Zosen-Sterling, LADY A is one of the most distinctive yachts on the water and features many of the designer’s signature design notes. Her decks are as impressive to view as they are to use, the spectacular sun deck, sitting within the yacht’s raised upper works, is pure Bannenberg. The use of glass, and the priority given to ensuring a good view is always to be had, is another of the designer’s iconic traits on show here.
The newly designed and fitted interior features walnut cabinetry and solid timber floors, with 12 guests accommodated across six luxurious en suite cabins. The full beam Owner’s cabin, located on the lower deck, comes with a private study and has its own Jacuzzi, separate shower room and dressing room. Three double guest cabins are also located on the lower deck with the VIP guest cabin and a twin guest cabin situated on the main deck.
LADY A’s living areas are some of the most impressive you will find at this length, with a large main deck dining room and superb upper deck lounge leading to the expansive aft deck and its dining and lounge areas. Another saloon is found forward, enjoying a sweep of curved glass and views over the bow.
The new sundeck design is an undoubted feature of the yacht, with vast sunbathing areas, a seated bar, Jacuzzi, and sun awnings. Two, more private, lounges are found at the foredeck, a perfect retreat when in harbour.
Continually maintained to the highest standards, the recent 10-month refit at Burgess Marine in the UK included an extension to the aft end of the upper deck to increase the exterior seating and social spaces, a comprehensive interior refit, minor structural, mechanical and electrical modifications and the installation of new Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers. A detailed list of her recent works is available on request.
