Overview

CHAGOS is an expedition yacht, capable of many tasks, whether it be adventure cruising, exploration, fishing, shadow yacht, sabbatical or as an escape vessel to live off the grid.

Remarks

CHAGOS was built for an avid sport fisherman to access remote fishing grounds of the world. The maiden voyage from the US brought her owner and crew through the Caribbean to Brazil, and then trans-Atlantic to the coast of Africa for its trophy fishing grounds.

CHAGOS was designed to be a low-maintenance expedition yacht that can be run with minimal crew.

Purchased with the intention of being a ‘shadow yacht’, the current owner has given CHAGOS a cosmetic, mechanical and electronic refit over the last two years. Some of the notable features are listed below.

2019/2020

  • Newly painted decks
  • Newly painted topsides
  • Newly painted underbody
  • Running gear removed and serviced
  • Stabilizers serviced
  • Fuel tanks cleaned
  • Fire suppression systems replaced
  • Fuel polishing and transfer pumping system added (ability to provide fuel as a mothership to other vessels)
  • All hydraulics serviced
  • New navigation electronics

Being an expedition yacht, CHAGOS is capable of many tasks, whether it be adventure cruising, exploration, fishing, shadow yacht, sabbatical or as an escape vessel to live off the grid.

She is rugged, safe and comfortable at sea and anchor. Her commercial hull design is extremely economical and seakindly. Due to a change in owner’s plans, CHAGOS is offered for sale.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND WALK THROUGH

Boarding from the swim platform there are steps up to the covered aft deck. Here there is room for exterior chairs and table or toy and tender storage.

Moving forward through a watertight door you enter a large area that is currently set up as a utility room but previously was a saloon. Forward of this is the dining area with table settees and chairs. Forward and to port is the professional-grade galley with a crew mess along with crew cabin with two bunks and private head forward.

Back in the dining area the center passageway leads up to the pilothouse where there is a captain’s cabin and en-suite head. Forward of the dining area to starboard is the passageway leading belowdecks to guest and crew staterooms.

On this level there is a washer/dryer station with another cabin forward with four bunks for additional crew or kids. Aft of the stairway are the guest quarters. There are port and starboard guest cabins, each with a queen berth and single bunk above. The port cabin has an en-suite head. There is an additional head forward of the port cabin that is shared by the starboard guest cabin and crew/kids berths forward. The owner’s cabin and head is currently removed from the yacht with the intent of setting up an office space. Going aft through a watertight door is access to the engine room.

The boat deck was designed to carry flats boats and tender. There is a hydraulic crane that is used for launching and retrieval of tenders and toys.
