Interior layout

Down the centerline companionway to starboard is the galley, with two burner propane stove and oven, well insulated refrigerated compartment with freezer section, drawers for utensils, shelves and sliders for glassware and tableware. There is a double sink with pressure hot and cold water and a new faucet.

Aft of the galley through a teak door is a private cabin with double berth, hanging locker, mirror, two lamps, a fan, three portlights and an overhead hatch.  (All four hatches and the 10 opening portlights have screens; the forward hatch and all 12 portlights had new lenses installed in 2012.)

Opposite the galley to port is a large hanging locker adjacent to the navigation station, with Radar, GPS and instrument readouts and the electrical panel with breakers for the ship’s AC and DC systems. The main four-position battery switch is beneath the nav station desktop, which lifts for access to storage for ship’s papers and charts.

Aft of the hanging locker through another teak door is a roomy private head and hot and cold pressure shower, with sink, medicine cabinet and vanity. There is storage for linens and bulk goods. The shower sump has a dedicated pump that discharges overboard. The head pumps to a 25-gallon holding tank that has an electronic level readout wired at the nav station. The head has a large portlight and an overhead hatch for good ventilation. Both are screened. The head and hoses were replaced in 2010.

The centerpiece of the main salon is an enormous teak dining table that can seat eight when fully extended or easily seat four with one leaf folded. With both leaves of the table down, there are comfortable settees to port and starboard. There are four portlights, a large overhead hatch and two fans for good ventilation. A flat screen, digital television is mounted on the forward bulkhead. The unit had a new digital antenna installed in 2012. There is a stainless Force 10 propane heater to take the chill off on those late season cruises. There is storage under both settees and on two tiers of shelving, one level of which is enclosed by sliding teak doors. At the forward end of the salon there are two drawers and a liquor locker. The cabin sole is teak and holly fitted in a FRP pan. The overhead is fiberglass and fitted with access points for wiring and backing plates. The grid for the mast step rests on the keel.

The forward cabin holds a double berth, a hanging locker and drawer storage, with teak ceiling and bi-fold door, three lamps, a fan, two portlights and a large overhead hatch. Access to the chain locker is at the foot of the double berth.

Headroom throughout is well over 6 feet, although doorways to the after and forward cabin require a duck if one is 6-foot or taller.

Sails: Mainsail replaced in 2011 with full-batten, loose-footed sail built by local sailmaker. Original main by Hood is still good for backup or delivery use. Hood genoa (135 percent) has been reworked and sun cover was replaced in 2013.

Mast: The mast was stepped, inspected and updated (pins, new sheaves at the mast head, new halyards) in 2010.

Engine: Yanmar 3hm35f is three cylinder powerplant that starts reliably and easily moves the boat at 5.5 knots at about 2200 rpm. Transmission was rebuilt in 2009. Seawater pump, belts and hoses, thermostat were replaced in 2013. Dual Racor fuel filters allow changing filters on the fly. The 17x11x2 bronze propeller was fully serviced by Digital Prop Shop in 2012.

Batteries: Two Group 31 house batteries and one Group 27 starter battery were placed in May of 2011

Charging systems, conventional and solar: The 20-amp battery charger was replaced in 2009 with a Pro Mariner three-stage charger. In 2010, one 80-watt solar panel was mounted above the bimini and wired through a controller to provide excellent independent system maintenance. In 2010, a second 80-watt panel was added, and Harmony has been off the grid since.  Shorepower is still available and functional, and there is a cable aboard.

Ground tackle: There is a 22-pound Danforth, approximately 100 feet of chain and 100 feet of  5/8 inch rode. The windlass was replaced with a Lofrans Cobra in 2009.  The windlass is mounted below deck in a locker at the bow, which also houses a saltwater washdown pump.

Canvas: The bimini, dodger and connector are new in 2013, built by Yacht Canvas in Annapolis with lifetime thread warranty. The bimini is semi-permanent and has side and back canvas shades that can be dropped to block the summer sun or help keep rain out of the cockpit. The mainsail cover was new in 2011.

The Cockpit: Edson wheel steering with wind, depth, speed and GPS (2012) at the helm. Wind speed readings have become erratic, seeming to kick in at about 8 knots. Also at the helm are a RAM mike, autopilot controls and remote windlass controls. There is a hot and cold pressure shower at the rear of the cockpit, a walk-through transom and a molded in swim platform with stainless and teak ladder. The cockpit has full cushions and seats six comfortably. When on the hook, a table folds down and two leaves fold out. A propane kettle grill can be mounted on the aft rail and is included in the sale.

Electronics: 2 GPS plotters, radar, VHF with RAM mike, autopilot, wind, speed, depth

Electrical: 12 volt and 110 volt systems. Hot water heater (6 gallons) works on shorepower or through engine heat exchanger. Boat is wired with 110 volt outlets in each cabin and 12 volt plugs in the cockpit and salon.

Bottom: Harmony had a second full bottom job in 2007. The first reportedly was in 2000 under a previous owner. In neither case was there evidence of osmotic blistering. In 2007, the bottom was faired and two coats of barrier coast were applied. The cast lead keel also was filled, faired and received two barrier coats. Two coats of bottom paint also were applied, and the bottom has been power washed, inspected and painted in alternating years since. In addition, during the peak of the sailing season (early May through October) a diver has cleaned the bottom every six weeks.
