Overview

The Regal name in yachts has always been associated with luxury and performance.  Built in the United States, and still a family-owned business, Regal yachts are a popular choice in the cruiser market.  The Regal 3860 Commodore is no exception. It is hard to find a yacht in this size range that features two staterooms and two heads, both with full privacy doors instead of curtains, that also features all of the luxury components found in a Regal.

The Regal 3860 Commodore has a large swim platform, room to spare in the cockpit for entertaining, an easily accessed engine compartment, and a thoughtfully designed interior that make her perfect for a couple, a family, or cruising friends.

Dreamboat can cruise up to about 30 kts at 2850 rpm, and cruises comfortably at 22-24 kts at 2600 rpm.

The owners of Dreamboat, her second owners, have thoroughly enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic ICW, and the waters of the Florida coast.  When you see all of the features of this Regal 3860 Commodore, you will see that she is the boat of your dreams.

MAIN DESCRIPTION

WALKTHROUGH

Dreamboat has a large swim platform, a two level cockpit, and a walk-through windshield.  The bow features a large sun pad with an adjustable back rest.  The salon is entered through a sliding door at the centerline next to the helm.  There are 3 curved wooden steps down into the salon area.  The galley and entertainment center is to port with settee seating for dining, entertaining or relaxing to starboard.  The ensuite master stateroom is forward; the ensuite VIP stateroom is aft.

2003 REGAL 3860 COMMODORE SWIM PLATFORM, COCKPIT,

The outside space on Dreamboat was designed with both cruising and entertaining in mind. The Regal 3860 Commodore is easily managed by one person, but can entertain a crowd! There are some outstanding features that you would not necessarily expect on a boat this size, which remind you that boating is ultimately an outdoor activity.

Swim Platform - The wide swim platform features a stainless steel swim ladder, a removable-post mounted Magma grill, two pull-up cleats, a hot/cold transom shower, a transom storage locker, and a St. Croix manual davit system which allows Dreamboat to carry a tender.  Although there is not a tender included, the owners previously carried a 10' RIB with a 10hp engine.  This makes Dreamboat ready for anchoring and taking a dinghy to shore, which is nice for both two legged and four legged cruisers.

The width also provides plenty of room for when the engine compartment needs to be accessed, which is from the swim platform.  The transom lifts electrically, using a switch at the helm.  A transom door into the cockpit is to starboard.

Cockpit - The lower level of the cockpit on Dreamboat features aft and to port seating, a floor hatch into the engine room, large stowage areas beneath the seating, access to the transom lazarette, a cabinet to port with a fire extinguisher, courtesy lights, and a dedicated area designated for a 25 qt cooler.  The wet bar is to starboard and includes: a Corian surface, an Isotherm refrigerator, a Sony receiver/speaker system, a tip-out dedicated trash receptacle cabinet, and storage.

The helm is to starboard on the upper level of the cockpit.  The bolstered captain's chair can seat two.  The sliding door into the salon is centerline, and has a separate sliding screen door. A semicircular seating area is to port, with a half-moon table.  The table can also be fitted into the semicircular seating area, after attaching a pad; this creates a large sun pad to port on the upper cockpit area.  The table and pad also have designated stowage in the transom lazarette. The entire cockpit area features 8 cup holders.

The windshield frame is polished stainless steel with a powered windshield vent for fresh air while underway, and a windshield wiper on the helm side.

The entire cockpit has a carpet on its non-skid surface (2014).  There is a navy bimini top over the cockpit, which is original to the boat.  There is also a full "camper" canvas and windows which are original to the boat which could be used to pattern replacements.  Dreamboat is kept stored with a full cockpit cover.  There is some wear showing on the exterior vinyl seating, which is white.

Deck - The foredeck is accessed through the windshield opening, or the port and starboard walk arounds with integrated steps from the swim platform. The bow rail is made of 316 grade stainless steel, with a 1 ¼" foredeck safety rail.  A covered chaise lounge swim pad with additional cup holders is the perfect place to watch a sunrise or sunset on Dreamboat.

The foredeck also features: a remote control stainless steel searchlight, an anchor windlass with foot controls (as well as helm controls), an anchor locker with 100' of chain and 250' of 5/8" rode, a fresh water anchor wash-down, and fender storage hatches.

Hull - The hull on Dreamboat is navy blue with a yellow boot stipe.  The bottom is cleaned by a diver regularly.  Dreamboat was hauled out in March, 2020 and the bottom and running gear was cleaned and painted, while the exterior of the boat was detailed.

2003 REGAL 3860 COMMODORE ACCOMMODATIONS

The luxury and engineering of the Regal 3860 Commodore continue in the salon, galley, staterooms and heads of Dreamboat. This roomy interior keeps comfort, privacy, and livability in mind in its well thought out design.  The three curved cherry steps leading from the cockpit down into the salon give the access an open feeling.  The interior is expertly finished with high-gloss cherry laminate cabinetry and cherry trim, which adds to the luxury.

Salon - Regal has designed this space to be much more than it appears at first glance. A glass and bottle storage cabinet with a smoked glass door is aft to starboard.  The AC/DC electrical panel is in the same area, also behind smoked glass doors. Dining can be at the cherry table which features a compass rose inlay. Both ends fold, which allows more movement around the area.  The entire table top and removable post store in a designated area behind the center cushion of the settee.

The LeatherCrest settee has built in foot rests on either end, which can easily be deployed while the table is still in place. The back cushions of the settee are easily removed to reveal storage compartments. The seating cushions are easily removed to reveal the hide-away bed.  Lift up the three legs, fold down the hinged cushion, replace the seating cushions and there is an extra berth.  Bedding for this berth can be stored in the same compartment.

There are curved cabinet doors over the settee area for storage.  The three portlights have pleated blinds.  Natural light is provided by a large hatch (with sun and insect screens), 12v halogen lights and indirect courtesy lights allow for lighting options at night.

The WalVac central vacuum system portal is beneath the salon settee.

The salon has the original carpeting, which does show wear.

Galley - The open floorplan on Dreamboat makes the galley to port part of the salon area.  The galley features: a Nova Kool 120/12 volt 7.5 CF refrigerator/freezer, an Origo microwave oven, a Kenyon 2 burner electric cooktop with a hide-away Corian cover, hardwood flooring, a Corian countertop, a stainless steel bowl sink, an 11 gallon waste receptacle with a countertop drop through lid, a 120 volt GFIC protected outlet, a portlight with a pleated blind, drawer storage, a cabinet with integrated plate storage, designated glass storage, and a full set of dishes and cutlery for 8.

Entertainment Center - A Vizio Smart HDTV is mounted on a swivel TV mount above the refrigerator/freezer, across from the salon settee.  The entire mounting panel lifts up to reveal large pantry storage, and locks into place.  An RCA DVD/CD player and surround sound speakers compliment the entertainment experience.

Master Stateroom - The ensuite master stateroom is forward on Dreamboat through a double pocket privacy door, with custom door stops. A queen berth with tailored decorator bedding and fitted sheets is offset to starboard, with a mirrored bulkhead forward, with 12v reading lights.  A ceiling hatch (with sun and insect screens) provides natural light, with curtained portlights to both port and starboard.  A flat-screen Vizio HDTV is mounted on an opening door to starboard, which provides discreet storage.  Additional storage is available in the two drawers under the berth, in the side shelves, in a longer hanging locker to starboard and a shorter hanging locker to port, both with cedar linings.  The inner spring mattress folds to access the reverse cycle AC/Heat unit under the berth forward and additional storage under the berth aft.  There are also two 120 volt GFIC protected outlets.  The ensuite head is to port through a private access door.

Forward Master Head - The master stateroom has a full private ensuite head which features: a Sealand VacuFlush fresh water toilet, a Corian vanity with molded-in sink and under vanity storage, a mirrored storage cabinet, a portlight with a pleated blind, a full size dressing mirror, a wall mounted hand-held hairdryer, towels racks, an AC vent/exhaust fan, and a 120 volt GFIC protected outlet.  The separate stand-up shower compartment has a half-round acrylic shower door, and a hand-held showerhead and bar.  Natural light is provided by the overhead skylight, which is frosted for privacy.

VIP Aft Cabin Stateroom - The VIP stateroom on Dreamboat is a nice bonus, usually reserved for yachts much larger. It is located to port, aft of the galley, and is accessed through a double pocket privacy door, with custom door stops, with a split head.

The athwartship twin berths convert to a queen size berth with an upholstered bolster cleverly stored in the headboard.  The upholstered piece between the twin berths opens to reveal cup holders, or can stay closed to be part of the queen size berth. The bedding and sheets are included.  There are curtained portlights both port and starboard, as well as reading lights. Storage is available under the mattresses, in a full hanging locker with cedar lining, and in overhead storage lockers.  The second reverse cycle AC/Heat unit is located in the VIP stateroom.  Both the forward and aft stateroom AC/Heat units feed the salon vents. A flat-screen Panasonic TV is mounted at the foot of one of the berths.
