Overview

The term 'elegant' is inadequate to describe Nautilus. Featuring an original motif for the carpentry and so many tasteful and creative features that Howard Chen, designer of Selene and CEO of the company that builds them, has said that this yacht is the most beautiful and original the company has ever produced.

These unique touches compliment the already distinctive style and grace that so characterize Selene yachts.  Beneath all that elegance is an ocean-crossing yacht of Category A ratings, proven for its quality, strength, durability, and dependability. Naiad stabilizers and Side-Power bow and stern thrusters make time under way or maneuvering a joy.

Top of the line electronics and AV systems provide the owners and their party with all the tools and utilities for safe, enjoyable, and comfortable cruising.

Contact the Central Agent to get links to a volume of supplemental files including CAD drawings of the layout, an extensive gallery of pictures, and other relevant information.

Welcome Aboard

NAUTILUS is an exceptional yacht, thoughtfully and tastefully modified, optioned, and equipped by her knowledgeable and experienced owners.

At dockside she is immediately impressive with graceful and classic lines that characterize all Selenes.

She is of the new Next Generation hull design featuring a more efficient form resulting
in greater fuel economy, hull speed, buoyancy, ER headroom, and seakindliness in following conditions. Built to Category A standards, the yacht is strong and seaworthy, able in offshore passages as well as luxuriously comfortable in quiet inland waters. Naiad stabilizers and Side-Power bow and stern thrusters make cruising delightful - at sea or at the dock.

Her interior is unlike any other Selene as the owners designed their own unique motif for cabinetry - executed flawlessly by the craftsmen at Jet Tern. A warm, cherry interior and traditional teak and holly soles convey the very best sense of warmth and comfort, just as a classic yacht should. The wide body layout provides for a gourmet galley and spacious salon.

The pilothouse with a commanding 270-degree view centers the dual navigation systems, provides a Stidd helm seat for the captain, and an L-shaped settee for passengers and crew to enjoy the voyage.

The over-sized master stateroom is full-width amidships with shoji screens sliding for privacy but welcoming light from the outside. Within, on the starboard side, is library with a full-size desk and lots of extra shelving, lockers, and storage.

Rigorous maintenance and service is well-documented by SeaKits' Marine Maintenance
Management System. This system conveys to her new owner. Nautilus is well cared-for, an impression that strikes a visitor immediately.

Examine Nautilus carefully, and you will agree she will provide all the cruising enjoyment a yacht of this class is expected to.

Boarding the Yacht

NAUTILUS is boarded from side gates into the cockpit both port and starboard, from the swim platform through a gate in the transom, or onto the Portuguese bridge via a high gate on the starboard side. This is especially helpful when tied on a fixed dock during lower tides.

From the cockpit, entry is made via a Dutch door into the salon. The pilothouse may be entered directly via Dutch doors on both the port and starboard side.

Salon

The salon is entered from the cockpit through a Diamond SeaGlaze Dutch door. To port is a large L-shaped settee centered around a hi/lo teak table - perfect for dinner for two, or opened to host a party of eight. Cocktails or dinner - the table adjusts to your needs.

To starboard, two leather barrel chairs with storage ottomans expand the seating capacity of the salon. Ahead, custom cabinetry houses a 42" Samsung TV with bookcases and shelves on either side. A full electronics suite including satellite TV, surround-sound, DVD, and AM/FM/CD systems are housed in cabinetry adjacent.

A dedicated reverse-cycle Cruisair HVAC system serves the salon and galley.

Other Features:
Storage beneath the settee
Cantalupi dome light
Cherry blinds
Emergency hatch to engine room
Cabin reading light
Teak overhead grab rail
Self-lock window stopper

Galley

The gourmet galley will make meal preparations a delight. The full width of the wide body makes it possible for spacious granite work areas, a four-burner propane stove cooktop, GE Advantium microwave/convection oven, and dual Fisher-Paykel dishwashers.

A Franke sink to port has an InSinkErator garbage disposal (new 2012).
To starboard, two pairs of Sub-Zero drawers provide three refrigeration units and a freezer. All are built into cabinetry resulting in openness that accentuates the size and scale of this Selene. A second freezer is located in the lazarette for longer-term purposes.

A hatch in the sole provides quick access to the engine room, even if just for a quick look.  Storage space is extensive. Above the counters and beneath the counters. A pull-out pantry with five compartments is beneath the companionway to the flybridge. It is immediately accessible from the galley.

A Raritan icemaker is conveniently located between the galley and pilothouse.

Pilothouse

Up three steps from the galley is the pilothouse. It is the center of activity for command and control. It is a social center, and a relaxing place to appreciate the boating lifestyle while on the hook or in port.

Port and starboard are Diamond SeaGlaze Dutch doors for access to the forward and side deck.

An impressive Stidd helm chair is centered to provide the captain access to all systems for navigation, communication, and operation of the yacht. Dual nav electronics systems (Garmin and Nobeltec) provide both redundancy and flexibility in route planning and execution.

Behind is an L-shaped settee offset to port with cabinetry and shelving above and behind.  Chart drawers are built in to this. A table makes the settee ideal for two to dine or a larger group to socialize.

Unusual for a yacht this size is the companionway that leads from the pilothouse to the helm from within the pilothouse for safety and convenience, to say nothing about staying out of the weather when changing stations.

A full suite of electronics is described in the features section.

Flybridge

The flybridge is a second helm, a second or third entertainment venue, a place for the dink, a place to sun.

Selene trawlers are unique in that access to the bridge is gained either via an inside companionway from the pilothouse, or by a gracious but practical circular stairway from the cockpit.

A full beam hardtop provides protection over the entire helm, cabinetry, and seating areas. It supports the custom mast that mounts electronics antennas including radar, satellite TV, and GPS.

The helm, with two custom Selene ladderback chairs, commands a 360 view of everything going on around the ship. Redundant controls and instrumentation gives the captain all the tools to run safely and confidently.

A large L-shaped settee with a pedestal mounted table offers seating for perhaps 5-6 in
addition to the helm chairs. A gas grill is flush mounted in cabinetry, as is a fresh water sink. A refrigerator for cold refreshments is also built in. Lots of storage is beneath the seats.

Custom covers protect the helm seats and settee when not in use.

A 1250 lb. Steelhead davit easily launches the 12' A&B RIB (new 2012) with a 40hp
Yamaha 4-stroke engine (also new 2012). The dinghy is itself equipped with Bimini, cushions, internal fuel tank, S/S prop, and heavy-duty chocks.

At the aft end of the bridge are mounted two aft-facing floodlights and an aft-facing closed circuit TV camera that is selected on the pilothouse displays.

Accommodations

NAUTILUS' accommodations are accessed via a handsome stairway leading down from the pilothouse. They include the Master Stateroom with en suite head and library, VIP Stateroom, VIP/Day head, full size washer and dryer, and access to the engine room.

All hanging lockers mechanically lock, are cedar-lined, and illuminate upon opening. Drawers throughout the yacht operate smoothly on roller bearing slides and also mechanically lock.

Artfully installed in the hallway is a full-size Bosch washer, and within the cabinetry of the stairway is a full-size Bosch dryer vented to the outside.

Access to ships tanks, sumps, and such is from the sole of both staterooms and the hallway.

Master Suite

Just as exceptional custom motif and space in the salon and galley, so, too, is the Master Suite original and elegant.

Nautilus features a full-width master located amidships. Central is a queen-size berth with cabinetry on each side.

On the port side are hanging lockers and drawers for storage as well as AV components for the flush mounted Samsung TV w/DVD player on the forward bulkhead.

To starboard is a library comprised of a full-size desk with lockers and drawers on both sides, and just aft, another hanging locker for storage.

Light is welcomed into the space through custom Shoji screens which slide out of the way or are removed by lifting if needed. All class and one of the stunning creative features of NAUTILUS.

The master head is forward to port. The shower is oversize. On the port side is a 7' long
granite vanity with the sink built in and storage below and to each side. The entire side wall of the head is mirrored from counter to the overhead. The mirrors slide out of the way when needed.

VIP Stateroom

Forward is the VIP stateroom which welcomes and comfortably accommodates your guests with its walk-around queen-sized berth.

Cabinetry on both port and starboard includes cedar-lined hanging lockers, lots of shelving for books and such, drawers and 8 smaller lockers for more storage. A flush-mounted Samsung TV w/DVD player is recessed into the aft bulkhead.

The guest head is adjacent, but also accessible from the accommodation stairway as a day head. A full shower, cabinetry with sink and mirrors comprise the arrangement.

Decks

The foredeck is massive. It houses the anchor pulpit with a Maxwell 2200 windlass and a Lewmar 110# anchor with 400' 7/16" chain rode. A second Lewmar 65# anchor with 400' 7/16" chain rode added in 2012.

Storage compartments absorb hundreds of feet of chain and rode, yet still have space for some lines and smaller fenders.

Large scuppers are extant on all decks including the foredeck, side deck, and cockpit. All cleats throughout the yacht are embedded in the bulwarks for convenience and safety.

A large seat is molded into the front of the Portuguese bridge providing a great place to enjoy the trip while under way or at anchor. It is yet again another place for social gatherings, sunning, and relaxing. Custom cushions and a cover are included.

Within the protective Portuguese bridge are storage compartments for fenders, lines, dive gear, and other such things most boaters accumulate.

Deck inventory includes ample fenders and lines.

Engine Room

The engine room is entered via watertight doors - one in the lazarette at the aft end of the ER, one in the forward bulkhead through the master suite (hidden in the stateroom by a cherry door). The watertight bulkheads and doors compartmentalizes it from the rest of the ship as is the lazarette and the accommodations.

A single Cummins QSL9.0 405hp electronic common rail engine is the standard. It is driven by electronic controls at both the PH and FB. In addition, a remote controller that plugs in at Portuguese bridge and the cockpit also controls the engine gears, throttle, and thrusters – effectively providing wing stations and, effectively unlimited points of control about the yacht.

The engine drives the Aqua Alloy 22 shaft thru a Tides Marine lip seal new in 2013. New cutlass bearings also installed in 2013. Faster Nibral 4-bladed prop. The shaft is equipped with an Ameritech line cutter. The transmission is Twin Disc.

A Wesmar hydraulic get-home system is driven by a PTO on the 20kW Northern Lights
generator.

Standard equipment in the ER includes an ESI fuel polishing system, a Reverso oil changing system, proper fuel manifolds to manage supply and return lines for the engine and generator.

Two 550 g. fiberglass fuel tanks provide capacity 1,100 g, sufficient for 1,500 miles of cruising at responsible speeds. S/S industrial grade sight gauges with magnetic chips rising instantly show the tank load.

The entire engine room is protected with 3" of Soundown multi-layered insulation. Under way, engine noise cannot be detected on the bridge; at anchor, generator sound can be if one really listens for it, otherwise it fades to the background.

Lazarette

The full-beam lazarette is entered from the cockpit sole, or via a watertight door connecting it to the engine room.

An easily negotiated ladder descends from the cockpit. To port is a Frigoboat freezer for long-term frozen storage and lockers for storage of equipment and supplies. On the forward bulkhead are battery racks. Aft to starboard is the Cablemaster.

Because Nautilus is a Selene 55, the lazarette is very large and there is little that
owners cannot store there be it bicycles, scuba gear, compressors, and/or all those extra lines, fenders, spare parts, anchors, and things all owners accumulate and need to access easily.
