Description of Improvements 2013

What a vision owner Greg Brandner brought before American Custom Yachts at the beginning of 2013. The sixty-foot Spencer Yachts, named Carol Libby, would undergo a complete transformation to meet the needs of only the most serious sportfishing aficionados.

The project started with the complete disassembly of electrical systems and mechanical components. The larger items included the fabrication and installation of engineered stringers, allowing for the installation of a Seakeeper 8000 gyro along with all its support systems; the installation of an Ocean LED underwater light system; the addition of a UV filter to the freshwater system; the installation of a Maxwell Windless with battery supply; and the installation of supplemental house batteries. Electrical work included the upgrade of the shore power and generator, adding switching for an additional 50 amps for demand with isolation transformers for the new generator. The electrical upgrades provided the extra power needed for the new mezzanine freezer, compressor, tuna tube pumps, main engine displays, tuna tower wiring, switches, panels and Bosch NIT 506 VC cooktop. Additional work included the relocation of the engine controls, the livewell and ice dump; the addition of a redundant freshwater pump with power supply; and new transom livewell plumbing.

On any vessel, it is necessary to fully utilize every square inch of space. The carpenters and fiberglass crew expertly fit many new components onto the vessel, including a new baitwell, rod holders, transom door, pulpit and sonar tube. The galley saw many upgrades as well, including custom Corian counters, new dinette drawers and shelving, and a custom cutting board. Additional interior amenities included a washer and dryer and the addition of drawers below bunks and bookshelves on bulkheads. The A/V shelves were also modified in the salon and master stateroom to accommodate new TV installations.
