CHANTIERS AMEL - the legend of La Rochelle

CHANTIERS AMEL is a shipyard, founded in France in 1964. The company was established by Henri Amel. The founder of the shipyard died in 2005, but his brainchild continues to produce the respectable vessels, embodying the dream of the founder of the company about a reliable yachts. In the 60s, when the company began to develop fiberglass was already used in the production of the boats.

Then, the manufacturer tested a variety of materials, using innovations for construction of its boats. The company has released a lot of sailing boats using the fiber glass cloth. The material is characterized by the fact that it is not pervious and ensures complete water resistance of watercraft. The racing sailboats of CHANTIERS AMEL have received recognition of the millions of judges of such vessels.

When in 1969 the company's production site was destroyed, Henri Amel moved production of the boats to La Rochelle. It was there where the story of the company was continued. All this time, the designer of ships were Jacques Cartier, who later took the place first of the technical directer and then the CEO of the company.

In 2009, the company's production site in La Rochelle was expanded. The vessels built by the shipyard after the founder's death, were not called by the name of islands or winds anymore. They simply carried the name "Amel".

Today, the brokers can offer the old boats "Amel" that are only growing in value over time. These vessels entered the history of world yacht building. New boats are also on sale, they still embody the principles that were the guidance for the founder of the shipyard.
