HOLBY MARINE

HOLBY MARINE is a shipbuilding company from Rhode Island. It was founded in 1984 by Barrett Holby. The company is notable not only for its yachts, but also for the fact that it is located on the old Herreshoff shipyard in Bristol. The place previously occupied by the most famous USA shipbuilder, means a lot.

The first project of HOLBY MARINE was implemented in cooperation with German Frers. This is the 40-foot racing boat, designed in accordance with the IOR, the most sophisticated international standards. In order to meet them, the company used the innovative materials and technologies. It is here where carbon fiber was used for the first time. The first boat had success, and then the shipyard launched a few race-cruise boats with the design prepared by Bill Trip.

In 1987 HOLBY MARINE expanded its production and moved to a new site (10,000 square feet). The shipyard was specialized in the manufacture of semi-customized yachts and collaborated with famous designers: Craig Walters, Chuck Payne, Bill Tripp, Greg Elliot and many others.

In 2013 HOLBY MARINE has been liquidated as an independent company: it was bought by one of the shipbuilders from Maine.
