Overview

This boat is in excellent mechanical shape. She's ready to sail, live aboard, etc.

The very low asking price is a reflection of the current owner's need to sell and a small amount of cosmetic damage to some of the interior finish veneer woodwork in the salon.

(LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale FL) The 31 Cape George Cutter is a proven boat for long term long distance blue water cruising. Design features include a heavy displacement, a full keel, an expanded sail area via a bowsprit, raised bulwarks, a walk around deck, a deck-height bridgedeck at the companionway, and tiller control of a large rudder. Chapter 17 of Ferenc Mate's book, "Best Boats to Build or Buy" describes the detail and construction of these finely crafted yachts.

While many 31 Cape George's are home built from a bare factory hull, Mahalo was factory built in Port Townsend, WA during 1990-1991. Launched in San Francisco, she was sailed on the US West Coast, was trucked to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she currently resides, and sailed along the US East Coast and the Bahamas.

Mahalo is equipped with 5 anchors, two of which are on bowsprit rollers (one of which is all chain), manual windlass, tall rig, 5 hank on sails, downwind pole, inflatable dinghy, outboard, dodger, bimini, boom gallows, solar vents,  compass, autopilot, speed/depth meter, GPS, and 35-HP diesel engine.

The roomy interior features a 74 inch height, a couples delight V-berth (w/o cutout), head & waste locker, shower, two freshwater tanks, full length 77 inch settees/berths, dinette, propane range with oven and broiler, refrigeration that will make ice, deep sink with foot pump and electrical water, low energy Alpenglow lighting, brass weather station, inverter, VHF radio, HAM radio, and AM/FM radio.

Her low demand electrical system (30-35AH per day) features two 220AH battery banks, two fixed (atop bimini) and four portable solar panels. She has gone as many as 3 weeks  at anchor without engine battery charge.

Finally, by not having a V-berth cutout nor quarter berth, she is clear of obstructions below, and has an unusually large number of storage lockers and drawers. Truly a long term long distance cruiser.
