Overview

Powerboat Guide Description

A distinctive boat with her stylish cabin windows, aggressive bridge overhang, and reversed radar arch, the 42 Motor yacht was Carver's entry into the big-boat market. She sold well during her production years, and Carver 42s remain popular today thanks to her roomy, well-arranged floorplan. She was built on a conventional modified-V hull with balsa coring in the hullsides and a solid fiberglass bottom. 

Exterior Accomodations

Stepping up to the boat, the sidedecks are wide enought to walk comfortably, with high railings. There is space on theforedeck for a sunpad (Has the plugs for push-button claps). There is a large-sized fender storage as well, plenty of chain and a good-sized anchor.

Going aft, you enter the Aft Deck through plexiglass doors, and enter into a full-enclosed space with Lexan panels (redone in 2014) that are removable. There is new carpeting as of June 2014, a mini-fridge installed in 2011, and an icemaker. There are outdoor patio chairs and room for a table for dining outside. The enclosure will keep you out of the elements, but you could fish off the back if you remove the panels.

The flybridge, which is fully enclosed with new panels, has seating for six, a Garmin 6010C charplotter as well as some older electronics, and a newer VHF. 

Above the hardtop of the Aft Deck is an electric Nick Jackson davit with rails for holding the dinghy (Owners have not used this recently, unknown if functional).

Down by the Transom, there is another Nick Jackson power unit that is fully functional and currently carries a 13 foot Novurania hard bottom dinghy with helm, and 50 HP Yamaha outboard..

Interior Accomodations

Stepping inside, the Salon seems big for a 42-footer. There is a long shelf with a Corian counter top to Port, with a helmstation. There is space for one or two sofa seats. To Starboard, a nice U-shaped couch (which is not fixed furniture). The counter top has been remodeled with a custom Corian countertop, which has a beautiful black and burgundy compass rose inlay.

Step further forward down 4 steps to the U-shaped galley to Starboard, with also new counters, a stove with electric glass top, microwave, and full size fridge. There is plenty of light from the skylight above. To Port is the full-sized settee with leather cushions, to seat six, which drops down to make into a bed for two (filler cushion included). There is plenty of storage, especially with two large cabinets. across from the settee.

Forward-most of the Carver 4207 are the Forward Cabin and the Forward Head, which has a separate shower stall and new custom countertop as well. The forward cabin which has a Pull-man-style berth also has a 2nd large berth above it, which can be easily disassembled if desired. Some custom cabinetry adds to the storage capacity.

The Owner's Cabin, aft, has a Queen sized bed, full walk-around, and plenty of storage. There is cabinetry and a little desk to Port, plenty of hanging locker across from the bed, and side tables with drawers on each side of the bed. The Aft Head, which have Vacuflush fresh-water toilets, also has a separate shower.

This yacht is kept clean--the carpets inside have just been shampooed--and does not have odors.
