Overview
The 54.70m 1973 motor yacht LATITUDE from German yard Hitzler Schiffswerft is offered for sale and is a classic expedition yacht in exceptional condition, thanks to the recent completion of a two-year refit.
Following an original conversion to an expedition yacht by Consunav Consulting & Engineering, LATITUDE completed an extensive 2-year interior and exterior refit in 2020 at Circa Marine New Zealand with interior design by Venia Design. Works included fabrication and installation of new steel and aluminium elements, mechanical, electrical and systems upgrades, plus interior remodelling of the bridge, entertainment spaces and galley. Owner, guest and crew accommodations were completely gutted, redesigned and refurbished.
So far in her lifetime, LATITUDE has cruised to Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, the Galapagos, the Caribbean and the east coast of the USA. LATITUDE has even completed three Pacific crossings, from Panama to Tahiti in French Polynesia, and has visited Fiji. She is currently en route to New Zealand.
LATITUDE can accommodate 12 guests across six cabins, including an Owner’s cabin on the bridge deck with private lounge and terrace, plus three double cabins and two convertible twins on the main deck. There is also space for 16 crew on board.
Powered by twin 708 kW (949 Hp) MWM Deutz TBD 440-08 engines, LATITUDE has a top speed of 10 knots and cruises at 8 knots, and she is very economical.

HISTORY
This Expedition Yacht originally hailed from Lauenberg, Germany (on the Elbe River) as the “J.G. Hitzler” in 1973. She was built for Jah. Franz Hitzler by Schitfswerft & Maschinenfabrik. Used as a supply tug in Paraguay under the name M/V Ava Guarani, the vessel was then purchased by Windstor Holdings Inc who supervised the rebuild into an expedition yacht. The conversion was done from 2000 to 2003 in Itajai, Santa Catalina Brasil by Consunav for the structures and Kalmar for the interior. Latitude is considered the rst vessel converted under IBS Class rules. A classication plaque was issued to Latitude on January 21, 2002 in Brazil. The vessel was registered in Panama on September 15, 2003. The Expedition Yacht has welcomed a new era in yachting, with the ability to explore the four corners of the earth with all of the comforts of a modern day superyacht. |
Built in Germany as a supply boat, “Latitude” was completely gutted and rebuilt inside. Everything is new including the electrical wiring and the plumbing layout. The pilothouse and main saloon were extended. She has been brought into class, so she is now able to charter. The outside living spaces are second to none, with a swimming pool / Jacuzzi incorporated into the aft deck. Latitude completed a 2-year full refit in 2020 at Circa Marine New Zealand with interior design by Venia Design. All the new teak decking was done in Fiji, after the ship departed New Zealand, using fijian Rosawa wood. All the interior wood is Brasilian Cedro wood. |
