Overview

GRAND BANKS 42 CLASSIC, Traditional trawler Matched with CONTEMPORARY "GREEN" HYBRID ELCTRIC TECHNOLOGY.

Watt Power was converted to Hybrid Electric power with twin 180hp electric motors, 36KW/H Odyssey battery banks, and 120 KW/H Generator. The yacht has been completely rewired, and in 2009 underwent a  complete refit with asll new thru hulls, new fuel tanks, all new wiring, new bow thruster, and both upper and lower helm stations updated. The vessel was used as a demonstrator/test platform for four years and a substantial amount of time was placed on the machinery. Currently the motors and generators have been transferred to a different platform and the yacht can be purchased with all new hybrid electric components for $249,000.00, or a buyer may select New twin Volvo D-3 diesels(210 hp each) installed for a total purchase price of $190,000.00, or buy the vessel "as is" for $155,000.00. Buyer may select any other brand and horsepower motors installed at a commensurate price.

Accommodations

SALON features L shaped seating to starboard and a smaller settee to port. Teak dining table with folding leaves and bottle storage under table top, with end drawer and built-in utensil compartment. Forward on starboard is a bar cabinet with ice maker and the lower helm station, which has quick access to the deck through a sliding door at the lower helm. The straight line galley is to port with Island granite countertop, large stainless steel sink, abundant storage, Princess range and oven, microwave, and two refrigerator/freezers. There is a seperate holding plate freezer in the port corner of the salon.

MASTER STATEROOM features queen sized island berth with storage underneath, large hanging locker, and ample drawer stroage. There is a seperate head to port and large shower to starboard. There is a vanity aft with drawer storage and a companionway to the deck. There are double folding teak privacy doors at the stairway up to the salon.

GUEST STATEROOM is forward and features V berths with filler to make double, ample drawer storage underneath, hanging locker and seperate enclosed head with shower. There are privacy doors seperating the cabin from the salon.

Deck Equipment

The Grand Banks 42' Classic features wide and secure walk-around decks for safe crew movement at sea and easily managed short handed docking. Other important features include a side door on starboard at the lower helm station, and a companionway from the master stateroom aft to the deck. The portside door enters the salon and galley areas.

There are stainless steel railing stanchions with teak caprail and brass railing guard. There is a mast with boom to lower the dinghy and deploy the staying sail. There are chocks for the dinghy on the aft cabin top.New cushions for flybridge and bow seat, dock box on bow, Double gypsy electric windlass with 45lb. plow and 20lb. Danforth style anchors, new fiberglass swim platform, hot and cold shower on transom, Dark Blue Sunbrella covers for exterior teak, ( including caprails, nameboards, full upper helm station, and weatherboards for flybridge), bimini top, privacy screens for windows, 11 ft. sailing dinghy with mast and sails, life jackets and throwable life ring.

Engines

The propulsion motors on "Watt Power" are twin 180hp high efficency, water cooled, permanent magnet, brushless electric motors, with a zero speed torque of 1,250 ft. lbs. each. (NEW).

The generator is a 120kw variable speed DC generator. (NEW)

The hybrid battery bank consists of 30 2150 Odyssey AGM's 36 kwh (400 VDC) with BMS (Battery Management System).

Bow Thruster is a 5kw canbus variable speed thruster integrated to the hybrid system and the bow thruster battery is a PC1800 Odyssey (12V)

The system is controled by two HMI's (Human Machine Interface) hybrid controls, two Glendenning twin electronic controls, two 3 axis joystick position maneuvering system controls. (Both Flybridge and Lower Helm have complete control stations)

The propellor shafts are 2 inches in diameter and turn 28X23 3 blade bronze propellors.

Machinery spaces are protected by a Fireboy Halon FE-241 automatic / manual fire supression system.

NOTE: Draft is under 4' with Hybrid Propulsion, and vessel now has a RANGE of 2400 Nautical Miles with the standard 600 gallon fuel capacity ! "Watt Power" has two NEW 300 gallon Aluminum diesel fuel tanks.

Electrical System

In addition to the descriptions for the electrical propulsion equipment listed under "Engines", "Watt Power" has the following equipment for powering "house" loads:

15kw House 240 VAC 60 Hz inverter feed from the Hybrid battery bank

One 5kw 240 / 120 transformer for the 120 VAC loads.

Two 5 kw shore power chargers, fully galvanically insulated, world compatible, and CanBus controlled

One DC / DC converter supplying 12 V and 100 amps to the 12 V batteries from the hybrid battery bank

House bank consists of two  2150 Odyssey bateeries in parallel (12V)

Electronics

Two VHF radios, Garmin 4212 GPS / Radar / Chart Plotter, XM radio, Two GPS sensors and one with heading sensor.

Both Flybridge and Lower Helm have the controls for the Hybrid Propulsion; HMI's ( Human Machine Interface), Glendenning electronic throttle controls, 3 axis joystick manuvering system with bow thruster control.
