42' Grand Banks Sport Cruiser RAFFLES

Built in 1985, 42' Grand Banks Sport Cruiser RAFFLES was 1 of 12 Sport Cruisers built by Grand Banks. Similar to the Europa model, the sport cruiser was built with a much larger aft deck creating more outside space for diving, entertaining or fishing. The owner has an extensive background of wood working and owning classic boats. It is easy to tell when looking at the wood work on the boat, that the owner takes a strong passion in refitting and maintaining the boats beauty. The teak decks were removed leaving the much easier to maintain non-skid flooring. With an abundance of storage throughout the boat and a very economical cruise speed of 10 knots, this classic Grand Banks is configured ideally for long range cruises and for doing the Great Loop. RAFFLES is a must see for anyone looking for a classic Grand Banks trawler that has been properly cared for and maintained.

Notable Recent Upgrades:

  • All thru hulls and sea strainers replaced in 2016

  • Blue transom lights new in 2016
  • All lighting throughout boat and engine room was replaced with LED lighting
  • Stainless steel appliances new in 2017
  • Uline ice maker new in 2017

Vessel Walkthrough

Through a wood trimmed sliding door from the cockpit, you enter into a spacious salon that contains the helm and galley perfect for on deck entertaining both inside and out. An L-shaped couch is on the port side that surrounds a fold out table for dining and cocktails. On the port side of the salon is a new ice maker with a GB standard bar above. Just forward of this lounging area is the L-shaped galley that has storage below the counter tops, in the counter tops and also above. In the countertops, there is a deep stainless steel sink, covered 4 burner stove top, an oven, and over/under refrigerator and freezer compartments. Overhead in the galley, is hanging storage and an LG microwave. Just across from the galley on the starboard side is the lower helm. Here you have updated electronics, all the engine/boat controls, and a large wooden steering wheel.

Down a set of steps, you have 2 staterooms that sleep 4 people comfortably and 1 bathroom/shower. The guest stateroom is immediately down the steps on the port side. Here there is a single berth with a foldout hammock bed above that is stored away to save space. Across from the guest stateroom is the bathroom that contains a sink vanity, toilet and a stand up shower separated by a curtain. All the way forward is the master stateroom. This stateroom contains a double berth with a small vanity just beside it, hanging lockers and plenty of storage.

The extra-large aft deck is the biggest difference between the Sport Cruiser model and the Europa model. With such a large aft deck, you have more than enough room for entertaining guests or to cover all of your watersports needs. Hanging off of the transom is a 2016 Apex inflatable dingy with a 9.8hp Tahatsu outboard motor. On the right side of the sliding door into the salon, is pullout drawers tackle center and outdoor sink combination and extra outdoor storage on the right side. Walk around side decks lead up to the bow where the ground tackle is located.

The fly bridge is accessed by climbing a slanted ladder located on the port side of the aft deck. In the fly bridge, there is a second helm with a Raymarine 10" Hybrid touch screen, forward and aft facing seating, and space for a couple of sun chairs. This is a pleasant area that can be enjoyed while underway and while relaxing.

Engine room is accessed from the main salon floor hatch. RAFFLES is powered by twin 340hp CAT 3208 engines with roughly 2,000 hours. The engines have recently been serviced and surveyed with good results. An 8kW Westerbeke generator supplies the boat with power while underway. The original fuel tanks were replaced with corrosion protected aluminum fuel tanks.
