Kathryn E is a beautiful late model Grand Banks 54 Eastbay. She is the perfect blend of timeless lines, quality construction and an unmatched ride. With CAT C-15 ACERT engines and a Ray Hunt designed hull she has the power and grace to match any sea state. Her hull has been painted in a striking wheat color and her interior features an optional high gloss all teak interior. Accommodations and Layout

"Kathryn E" is a pleasure to walk up to on a dock with her classic Eastbay lines, her stunning woodwork and her gleaming wheat color hull.  Her oversized teak swim platform has a chock system and is large enough to carry a tender as well as providing ample room to enter the cockpit with large transom door.  Customized seating in the cockpit is provided across the transom and port and starboard sides and swings away when not in use for a large and spacious aft deck.  Built in aft facing seats with storage flank either side of the double cabin door and round out the cockpit seating. All cockpit cushions were refinished in the past year.  The cockpit sole is natural teak and the steps leading into the cabin doors are on an actuated lift to allow engine access from the cockpit at the push of a button.  Moving forward on the exterior is a breeze thanks to wide flat side decks that make all around access to the bow and sides of the boat easy on line handlers and guests.  Side decks are done in fiberglass non skid painted in an oyster and features sharp accents like the high gloss teak toe rail, gleaming stainless steel anchor chute, hawsers and dorade vents atop varnished boxes.  A highly functional showpiece!
Entering the cabin one will immediately notice the high gloss teak interior.  Rare on GB's the high gloss finish was quite and expensive option but one that really showcases the craftsmanship found throughout this vessel.  The salon is large and open with beautiful panoramic visibility everywhere you look thanks to large salon windows and glass paneled doors.  The salon has a a teak and holly sole that the current owner protects with a nicely bound and fitted neutral carpet for everyday use.  To the port side of the salon there is a large settee done in a navy glove leather with a high gloss teak base, teak folding hi/lo table and twin ottoman/stools also done in a stitched navy leather.  Across and to starboard are two barrels chairs that flank an entertainment center again done in gloss teak.  The entertainment center features a Bose stereo/dvd/surround sound system as well as flat screen TV that is recessed in the cabinet when not in use but pops up via a touch of a button or remote control.  Forward is the helm with Stidd chair on stainless pedestal for the captain to starboard and a matching Stidd for a companion to port.  This layout provides for a very open feeling and provides an unmatched vantage point for both captain and navigator.  The helm provides plenty of space for the dual upgraded Raymarine screens and a full suite of navigational accessories.  In front of the companion Stidd is a large area for charts to be laid out and reviewed with a storage cabinet for them underneath.  The windshield provides a center vent and there is a door from the helm to the side deck.  Combined with opening side salon windows and two overhead hatches there is plenty of natural ventilation when desired.
Down from the helm and salon area is a wonderfully laid out galley to port that is flooded with light from the windshield above and large stainless trimmed port light.  Cabinetry again is teak high gloss and the countertops are done in a black galaxy granite.  Cabinets both above and below counter provide immense storage and there are under counter refrigerator and freezers as well as a built in stainless steel microwave/convection oven.  A deep stainless steel sink is recessed into the granite counter and at the end there is a glass front lit cabinet for bottle and glass storage.  Across from the galley there is a lower L-shaped settee/dinette with a teak table with storage that is a great place to catch a quick bite, watch TV outside of the salon and staterooms and can covert to a third sleeping area when desired.  A companionway leads forward and puts a guest stateroom to port with good size twin berths, hanging locker and drawer storage as well as its own flat screen TV.  Across is the guest head which features a vacuflush toilet, black granite countertops, large overhead and side port lights as well as a generous stall shower with built in seat.   A private entrance to the shower is had from the master as well creating a clever split head/shower arrangement in the master forward.   The master stateroom is incredible with high gloss teak paneled walls and dresser and a raised centerline queen berth.  The stateroom is spacious with an abundance of drawer and hanging locker storage and natural lights from both overhead and port lights.  A private master head again features vacuflush toilet, black granite vanity with stainless steel sink and abundant lighting and mirrors.
The engine room is done in typical Grand Banks fashion with everything laid out to perfection, labeled nicely and offering room even to the outboard side of the engines. The lighting is generous and everything is glistening white.
A timeless boat that is not only drop dead gorgeous but also very functional coupled with a classic Hunt designed hull form providing performance and comfort in any sea state!

Engines and Mechanical

The owner of Kathryn E had Alban Caterpillar aboard the boat in April (2018) to perform a 1000 hour CAT inspection.  Oil samples were taken on then engines (as been the history in the past with this owner) and all came back perfect.   CAT software was also hooked up to the engines and a clean report of health was given to the entire drivetrain.   Alban CAT has been aboard the boat each year to do an inspection and sea trial as well as perform any maintenance since the current owner purchased her in 2012.  Other maintenance including on land winter storage has been performed by Haven Harbor in Rock Hall, MD an authorized GB service yard.
