Overview

The Owners of Sun Gypsy just completed a 2 year Loop.  Prior to starting the loop the owners spent $70,000+ upgrading Sun Gypsy to insure maximum comfort and worry free cruising. 

In April 2017 - Owner's had the following work completed at the yard:

  • Bottom sand blasted and sanded
  • New barrier coat
  • Two complete coats of bottom paint, a third around the boot stripe and in about two feet
  • New boot stripe
  • All thru hulls and shut off valves serviced
  • Rudder logs repacked
  • Shafts and cutlass bearings checked (new with 800 hrs of service)

Previous Re-Fit included the following:

Re-Built Lehman 120s - current hours 830, Prop Shafts replaced, Props, Cutlass Bearings - modified packing to introduce cool water ahead of cutlass bearings, all bilge pumps replaced, teak decks removed and deck resurfaced, new Dinghy Davit with winch, Davit Bases installed on both sides, custom built Swim Platform, new Mast for Electronics and much more!

42 Grand Banks Classic Overview

Sun Gypsy is a classic Grand Banks 42 in good condition.  She offers fuel efficient Ford Lehman 120 hp main engines, Kohler generator, bow and stern thrusters, custom davits, swim platform and much more. The sellers have completed the Loop and are offering Sun Gypsy for sale.  She is great Loop boat and is ready to go again!

42 Grand Banks Classic Walkthrough

Entrance into the salon from either port or starboard doors, you will find the salon to be light, open and welcoming. Just inside the port door aft is a large full standing refrigerator with a food prep counter and storage cabinets. Further aft is the master stateroom.  A large L shaped settee with a folding teak table is on the starboard side of the salon. Forward of the settee is a microwave cabinet with storage, starboard door and the inside helm is just forward of the door.  The Guest cabin is forward of the salon.

42 Grand Banks Accomodations

Sun Gypsy offers the classic Grand Banks full beam aft master stateroom with ensuite head and stall shower, and a guest stateroom forward with a V berth and an ensuite head.

42 Grand Banks Salon

The large salon has been professionally painted white above the chair rail to provide a light and airy environment.  The cabin sole is the classic teak parquet flooring. The headliner (insulated and replaced in 2014) is white with lights and a teak handhold the length of the salon for safety while underway. The galley is to port and the L shaped settee (new cushions 2014) with a large folding table is to starboard with the inside helm forward. Opening windows, large windshield, entry doors on both sides with screens provide a lot of natural light.  All windows and doors have removable sun screens installed on the exterior. All the interior windows have custom shades that can either be pulled down or pulled up allowing privacy while maximizing the natural light.

The galley on the 42' Grand Banks is located on the port side of the salon and has been complete remodeled.

42 Grand Banks Dining

There is large built in L-Shaped seating with an expandable dining table and built in bottle/ magazine storage below.  With the table sides down there is plenty of room to move around between the table and the seating.  The seat cushions are a very pretty tan tweed and were replaced in 2014.  Under the starboard side of the settee are 3 drop down doors with pullout plastic bins for easy access to the storage are, no need to remove all the cushions to get to the storage areas.  There is a large storage area under the "L" aft area of the settee with access from the top and a small pull down drawer at the end of the settee.

42 Grand Banks Master Stateroom

The master stateroom offers two custom full twin size berths with 10" sleep number mattresses and 6 pull out drawers (3 each side) for storage. Large custom desk to accomodate computer, printer, scanner, Direct TV, DVR, TV and storage with 3 small and 3 large under counter drawers.

Reading lights and fans are located above both berths

Large windows on each side with custom honeycomb blinds which pull up or down for privacy and natural light

Carpet on the sole and custom bedspreads provide a cozy feel to the area
