Overview

New to the market, here is a 350hp CAT diesel powered Europa with Naiad Stabilizers and a bow thruster.  Only 1575 original hours on the motors and only 1630 on the Onan generator in sound enclosure.  Newer Dometic AC compressors and a brand new high volume stateroom air handler.  Early in 2019 she had a bottom job and had previous bottom paints removed down to gelcoat.  Nautical Structures davit on flybridge and full teak decks, plus stairs with banister railings from the aft deck.  Garmin chartplotter/GPS/radar on the bridge and second display at the lower helm.  The hinged antenna mast and double bimini top make her relatively easy to lower your air draft.

This two stateroom boat has two heads with a shared central shower room.  Teak parquet flooring throughout the interior is easy to care for with oriental area rugs.  The salon has a flat panel TV which has a hinged opening storage compartment behind.  A newer refrigerator with icemaker in the galley, plus all the standard Grand Banks Europa clever storage areas.  This sedan style trawler arrangement has full walk-around side decks and the double opening doors to the aft deck area mostly covered.  A very comfortable cruising boat.  Seller is retiring from boat ownership and will be including all his spare parts, lines, anchors, and fenders.  Can be seen at her home slip on Mobile Bay.

The majority of the photography with this listing was taken in mid-August 2019.

Manufacturer Provided Description

The Grand Banks 42 Europa has been decades in the making. The original Ken Smith design has been amended and updated with the practical input of her owners. The experience gained since the laying of the first GB 42 keel in 1966 is reflected in each one commissioned today. Her practical layout, sturdy fiberglass construction, deep water design, and long range capability all add up to a complete cruising boat. The Grand Banks semi-displacement hull design, with a fine entry forward, hard chines aft, and a full keel has been proven on waters around the world. Twin diesel power will deliver economy at hull speed and provide higher cruising speeds with these larger horsepower than the standard engines. The exterior of the hull and deckhouse on the GB 42 is smooth gelcoated fiberglass. Teak decking is laid over the fiberglass on the main deck and flybridge. The bulwarks surrounding the wide main deck are capped with a sturdy teak safety rail providing safe movement from bow to stern for those on board. The Grand Banks 42: In production since the 60s, her hull was redesigned in the early 90s giving the proven Grand Banks semi-displacement hull a longer waterline and an increased beam. Ideal for a couple with children or guests, she cruises economically at 9 knots, yet 16 knots is possible with these engines. The Europa's main saloon opens to a protected cockpit for expanded, one-level living. Two forward staterooms are standard.

Salon

From the covered aft deck there is a two-part sliding door to access the salon.  The attractive Asian teak interior is satin finished with nice detail.  To the Port side of the salon starting aft is an entertainment cabinet that has been modified from original to house a Samsung flat screen TV on a sturdy hinged door that can operate when opened and allow the viewing of the TV to swing toward the aft deck if desired.  Further forward to port is an L-shaped built-in Settee with storage beneath.  The leatherette upholstery is tufted with a thigh bolster and some decorative pillows.  In front of the settee is a teak cocktail table that has two fold up leaves and a hi-low mechanism to double as a dining table.  Just beyond the settee is the galley countertop.  On the starboard side starting aft is a three drawer end cabinet followed by two tan leather Swedish "stress-free" arm chairs separated by a built-in cabinet with storage shelf and cabinet with a decorative table lamp on top.  The deckhouse windows have earth tone gathered draperies with GB brass sconce lamps on the center pilasters.  The windows are further treated with adjustable mini-blinds.  Just forward of the armchairs is a top-opening/fold down bar cabinet with bottle storage, another storage area beneath, drawers and a cabinet.  Across at the end of the galley cabinet is further bar and glass storage racks.

Galley

The L-shaped galley is forward to the port side and with the aft countertop open to the salon with overhead cabinets contributing to the division of the areas.  The countertops are off-white and they are framed by teak sea-rails, plus most of the upper cabinets also have rails.  There is a U-line refrigerator with cube ice maker inside located beneath the counter.  In the corner of the countertop is a top opening stainless lined ice box that is currently used only for dry storage.  Below the counter are 4 drawers and several cabinets for goods storage, plus a Sharp Carousel microwave/convection oven is flush mounted.  Just above the oven is a three burner Princess stainless electric stove with fold up countertop cover.  A rectangular stainless basin sink with Grohe faucet is centered in the counter.  There are four overhead cabinets facing the aft salon and to the portside are two fold-down cabinets that hold plates.  Above the stove area there is an electric exhaust fan vent as well as the side window can slide open if needed.  Forward of the galley are to port is a flat teak dashboard area that can be used as a chart table and three bi-fold top doors open to very useful divided storage area.  There are also two drawers in this front console which has the windshield above it.  To the starboard side from the galley is the lower helm station and main electrical panel with a door to the side deck.

Flybridge

Teak deck with port and starboard side, fiberglass helm and companion seat consoles.  Both consoles have back to back seats which all have Sunbrella heather beige cushions and storage beneath.  Aft of the helm to the starboard side is an L-shaped settee lounge with storage beneath.  A teak grate top, rectangular table on a pedestal is in front of the settee.  The bridge from behind the helm benches aft is surrounded by stainless steel safety railings which have navy blue Sunbrella canvas covers laced to them.  Overhead an extended navy blue bimini top covers the helm area and the extension bows cover the aft bridge.  There are also some covers for the seating and table made from the navy Sunbrella canvas.  Aft of the stainless railing with laced canvas is the GB signal/antenna mast, which can be lowered (hinged) to access lower clearance navigation needs.  Outboard to the starboard side is a Nautical Structures davit and aft are some teak GB chocks made for dinghy storage.
