Overview

The sailing yacht PREVAIL was built in 2009 by Hodgdon Yachts of Maine, USA.
PREVAIL is built as a fast cruising yacht.
Hodgdon is one of the finest large yacht builders in the USA (they have amongst others built, Comanche 100 feet, Windcrest 98 feet, Asolare 154 feet, etc.) and recently celebrated 200 years of boatbuilding history.

Prevail has been lightly used. For the 2017/18 season she was used for 6 weeks in Maine and then shipped to and from Antigua for 3 weeks of cruising in the surrounding islands. In prior seasons, she was launched for two months only each summer. Each winter was spent in heated storage and had thorough annual maintenance and improvements. She has been captain operated and now has a full-time crew of two.

The decks are surrounded by double lifelines, bow pulpit and pushpit aft. She has a scoop style stern. The decks are teak overlay with light blue comings. The vessel has a raised cabin house with surrounding windows. There is a centreline companionway forward in the cockpit. The open cockpit has twin carbon steering wheels.

GENERAL

Hull and Deck construction

HULL & DECK
The hull and decks are built using a sandwich type construction utilizing a foam core with carbon fibre and epoxy laminates. The hull is stiffened with webs, frames and bulkheads.

The vessel’s hull is painted a metallic light blue with a single blue boot stripe and cove stripe.
The entire vessel was stripped, re-faired and repainted in 2017; all deck hardware was removed and polished and all cleats were re-anodised. The bottom is painted black with an antifoul paint.

Keel & Rudder:
Lifting keel. The keel is stainless steel with a lead bulb.
The keel is lifted by hydraulic rams (and there is also a manual back up system located in saloon).
The keel was removed in winter 2014-2015 for thorough maintenance.
