Hull, Deck and Superstructure

Fifteen thousand hours of labor were invested in this Huckins over a four-year period in her reconstruction/restoration/refit. All documented; all receipts. She was stripped to bare wood outside, the few questionable areas were addressed/replaced, the bottom was re-fastened and covered with heavy 18 oz. bi-axle cloth and barrels of West System epoxy. The keel and chine have four additional layers of 18 oz. bi-axle cloth. Top sides have two layers of 10 oz. cloth (and more barrels of West System epoxy) and the deck and cabin tops with one layer of 10 oz. cloth. Inside from amidship to the stern, all bottom and side frames were sistered even though none needed strengthening or replacement. The yard was told to make the hull strong enough to support TWO 1,500 hp engines in the stern. They did.

MOVEABLE FEAST has been restored without regard to cost. She is strong, she is fast, she is economical to operate (29 gallons/hour @ 20 knots).
