With such exceptional performance and quality construction, the J/120 earned the distinction of being CRUISING WORLD magazine's 1996 OVERALL BOAT OF THE YEAR and the BEST VALUE in a full-sized cruising boat. Known for her outstanding performance on the racecourse as well as offshore, the J120 is arguably one of the most versatile racer cruisers ever made.

Easily sailed by a couple or with a full crew, the J120 offers a great combination of speed, comfort, and ease of handling. Fully crewed and with the right weather conditions, the J/120 can easily reach speeds in the mid-teens. For a cruising couple, she sails quite nicely with the mainsail alone, is easily controlled close reaching in a strong breeze, and can make 10 knots with a mainsail and small jib.

With a Chesapeake PHRF of 51, it's performance like this that has made the J/120 a sought after choice in the brokerage market for performance cruiser-racers.

Below deck, things are comfortable and well thought out as well. Two comfortable cabins with changing room in each. A saloon that provides opposing straight settees that convert to bunks for the crew. A galley with nice refrigeration space and plenty of countertop space to do prep work. A head with shower and a nav station that has lots of room to work. Hanging locker space in each cabin and stowage for duffels. Business-oriented, but with enough touches to make it a comfortable cruiser as well.

EURO TRASH GIRL comes with an impressive race record and is a well-known name out there to many. Some of her more noteworthy wins include:

  • Overall PHRF winner Annapolis to Newport
  • Daily 1st and 2nd place Key West Race Week
  • Daily trophies Block Island Race Week
  • High point 2nd place in CBYRA for three consecutive years
  • Overall winner Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau

ACCOMMODATIONS

VESSEL WALK-THRU

V-Berth: The berth is a comfortable 75” L x 27” W x 77” W at the shoulders. There is storage beneath the bunk via top and cubby access.  On starboard, aft of the bunk is a fiddled shelf with 2 drawers and a locker below.  On port is a seat with storage beneath and behind it and a fiddled shelf above.  Aft of the seat on port is a hanging locker with a zippered mesh screen closure. There is one overhead light, one reading light, a Hella fan, an opening hatch and one opening port in this cabin.  Additionally, there is private access to the head from this stateroom. Headroom is 5’9”.

Forward head: Entry into the head is via the saloon or forward stateroom.  The molded fiberglass sink is oriented forward and towards centerline.  There is a locker beneath the sink and a teak framed mirror above it.  Oriented along the hullside is the head, with counter space above and behind it and a medicine cabinet with shelves and sliding mirror doors above that.  Ventilation and lighting are provided by a fluorescent strip light, an overhead hatch and an opening port. Headroom here is 5’10”.

Saloon: The saloon has opposing straight settees on either side, with a large drop-leaf dinette table that can seat six beneath them. The 6’3” long settees have tankage and storage beneath them and cubby storage behind the seatbacks.  The seatbacks swing up on a pulley system to convert them to four bunks, with the lower bunks having lee cloths.  Teak staving lines both hull sides above the seatbacks.  There are two LED reading lights above each settee and 2 long opening ports above those.  Overhead, there is a hatch, an LED light, and stainless-steel grab-bars the length of the salon.  Headroom is 6’2”.

Galley: The galley is at the base of the companionway on port.  L shaped, it has Corian counters with tall teak fiddles, making for good handholds.  The double sink is oriented towards the centerline and has a locker beneath it.  Continuing along and around the hull sides is the top-loading icebox, followed by a utensil drawer and shelved locker beneath the counter.  Aft of that is the stove with a locker beneath that for cookware.  Above the counter and along the hullside are shelves with sliding plexiglass doors.  Above and aft of the stove is a dish organizer.    Headroom in the galley is 5’11”; an overhead hatch and opening port provide ventilation.

Nav station:  The nav station is located across from the galley on starboard.  Forward-facing, there is a large nav top with lots of storage beneath the lid and a large cubby for storage under that.  The nav seat has storage beneath it as well and there is open bin storage the length of the hullside.  The electrical and electronic panels above that are hinged to drop-down for easy maintenance.  Headroom here is 5’10”.

Aft cabin: The bunk is a comfortable 6’6” x 34” x 46”; the headroom over the bunk is generous and with two opening ports does not feel claustrophobic.  There is a changing seat with storage beneath it and a hanging locker. Headroom is 5’8”.
