Overview

Drop-dead gorgeous, Tylers-moulded/Moody finished (1969) and completely re-fitted (2012/13) Gentleman's motor-cruiser. Professional two and a half year refit recently finished:- stabilised, twin Nanni 115HP diesels (BRAND NEW!), new Raymarine kit, Awlgrip, totally prepared to wow.

Broker's Comments

Presenting a very rare opportunity to acquire a fully re-fitted, Lloyds-built, gentleman’s heritage motor-yacht, USUTU is presented in A1 condition – both in terms of engineering and cosmetically. One of only a handful of Lancer’s moulded by Tylers, her charm is undiminished by years, and she is stabilized; with modern navigational inventory to bring her bang up to date.  USUTU’s 2 ½ year total major professional refit includes a total Awlgrip re-spray and total engine room replacement.

Owner's Comments

USUTU has had a truly vast amount of money spent on her. Why? Firstly because she was built to Lloyds 100A1, plus LMC, her hull is between 23-25mm thick and topsides 21mm thick. She has a virtually dry bottom for her age and was in 2012 free of blistering (survey commented ‘in remarkable condition’). Moulded by Tylers, fitted out by Moody when they were just changing over from timber yachts to GRP, in consequence the standard of joinery and timber use is exception; she is stabilized and most importantly she is very, very attractive – a truly modern, heavy displacement, long range, low maintenance, classic motor yacht and a seaworthy, confidence inspiring vessel. Regrettably USUTU is being sold due to illness.

The yacht is being sold as a turnkey operation, to include new bedding (2/3 sets), cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, tools, spares, electronic charts, paper charts, books, vast amount of warps, fenders etc. All that is needed to go is fresh food!

Construction

RCD Status: Our understanding is that the yacht is exempt from the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) as she was built and placed into use within the EU prior to 1998.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

·         Total vessel re-sprayed in Awlgrip, snow white and flag blue (refit 2012/2013).

·         All teak bright worked stripped to bare wood, refinished in ‘Colan’ (refit 2012/2013).

·         Treadmaster non-slip pads re-finished in ‘Tread Master’ grey (refit 2012/2013).

·         USUTU was one of only 2 x Moody Lancers fitted with stabilisers out of the five built. She had Vosper Thorneycroft mini fins fitted. The fin assemblies are engineered to a remarkably high standard and are in very good condition and show very little wear, they were retained, as was the original oil tank, the rest of the entire system was replaced with a total Naiad ‘Multisea 2’ installation (refit 2012/2013).

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

·         2 x Nanni N4.115 diesels  (Kubota based industrial non-electronic); commissioned May 2013.

·         3 year warranty.

·         Twin Disc 2:1 handed boxes.

·         Large Racor 900 filters with vacuum gauges, capable of filtering 341 litres per hour, fitted with clear bowls, plus solid if required; they are plumbed in a way that allows both engines to run off 1 x filter either continually or temporarily whilst changing a filter element.

Maintenance & Performance:

·         Trials and commissioning hours only.

·         115hp at 2,600rpm.

·         Maximum speed (half load): 10.25 knots at 2,400rpm.

·         Theoretical maximum endurance: 38 litres per hour = 30 hours = 307 miles.

·         Eco Speed (half load): 7.25 knots at 1,650rpm.

·         Theoretical maximum endurance: 10.5 litres per hour = 114 hours = 826 miles.

Note: The above are based on manufacturer’s stated capacity & consumption figures are not guaranteed.

Propulsion & Steering:

·         Side-Power bowthruster.

·         Double helm seat and aft seating with stowage under.
