Comments:

This beautiful Swan 59 is unique in that it has a shoal draft keel and easily handled in mast furling, allowing it to sail short handedly into harbors most of her sisters cannot. The interior layout is also different, in that the owner’s cabin is forward, and there are 2 cabins aft.

ASTRAEUS has always had very high maintenance, and has had the decks renewed, hull painted, mast painted, upgraded electronics, and much other refit work. She has had light family use only with the current owner, and was inside stored in the winter of 2007/8. Brand new Volvo D3-130 130 hp diesel installed September 2008. Bowthruster added, Feb 2010.Bottom stripped, dried, re-epoxied, winter 2009/10. Mew Hood vectran sails 2010. Description of layout from forwards:

ASTRAEUS has a unique layout with v berth/storage forward, with 2 x fold up pipe berths. Next aft is a head to port with a vacuflush toilet and a stall shower to starboard. Aft of this is the owner’s cabin, which is forward of the mast, full width and contains a queen size double berth and ample storage lockers.

The main saloon has a U-shaped settee surrounding a table to starboard, with a centerline 2 person seat. To port is an L-shaped settee wrapped around a cocktail table. Settee upholstery is blue leather.

Next aft is the chart table and hanging locker to starboard, and a U-shaped galley to port.

Going aft to the full width rear cabin is a guest, or crew cabin, with upper and lower berths plus en-suite head.  The aft cabin contains two large beds either side and has an en-suite vacuflush heads compartment.
