Overview

A no-nonsense adventure craft, with proven capabilities, seriously for sale by motivated seller.

Introduction

CHAGOS is a steel, no nonsense, U.S. built expedition style yacht. She was custom built to serve as a mother ship and base of operations for chasing world record fish on the west coast of Africa and beyond. Her hull design is based on a proven commercial fishing boat design, offering an economical long range, minimal maintenance, sea-going vessel. She has proven capabilities, as she journeyed from South Florida to South Africa via Brazil on her own bottom on her maiden voyage. She proceeded to travel to remote regions on the West African coast for two years, catching prize fish and again proving her mettle and design purpose. Offering a versatile layout, capable of being adapted for an owner operator or with crew, she is designed as a non-pretentious and easy to maintain vessel, both inside and out.

Approaching from the stern, the half-covered aft deck, which can accommodate additional tenders/toys beyond the large boat-deck above, offers a multitude of uses. Ease of access to the integral swim platform, side decks and boat deck via stairs, as well as the lazarette and engine room make this one of the focal points of the vessel. Upon entering the salon, there is an L-shaped sofa and TV/entertainment system to starboard and additional sofa to port. Forward is the dining room to starboard with banquette and wine coolers to port. The large galley is on the main deck to port, which has access to a dinette and crew cabin all the way forward. Centerline is a stairway up to the pilothouse with Captain’s cabin aft and to starboard a companionway (with side deck access) that leads to the stairway down to the guest accommodation.

At the bottom of the stairs is a laundry center and forward a four-bunk cabin, which is great for children or additional crew/fishing guides. This cabin shares a full head (with stall shower) with the starboard guest cabin, which has a double berth and an upper bunk berth. To port is another guest cabin with ensuite head and amidships is the master cabin with ensuite head. Both cabins have upper bunks, with the owner suite having a king size lower berth.

CHAGOS was designed to carry 3 x 20’ flats boats, 1 of which remains which, along with the centerline Palfinger knuckle boom commercial crane, allows great flexibility in launching a wide variety of “water-toys” that can be carried on the boat and aft decks. The pilothouse, forward on the boat deck, has full walk-around decks and is protected from the high bow by a Portuguese Bridge.
