SHORT PROFILE OF THE 1ST OWNER OF RODMAN

HISTORY

The 1st Head of Gabon; ruled a country through his single-party regime for 41 years. By 2008, he became the world's longest-serving non-monarch ruler. He was so successful at the art of holding power that by the end of his life there was no one left in his country with enough authority to pronounce him dead. He is said to have, pocketed 25% of country’s gross domestic product (GDP), and was one of the world's wealthiest heads of state.

Outside his country his extravagance continued. In France, he had his choice of 39 properties, 16 in Paris, four of them on the Avenue Foch, and several on the Cote d'azur, worth an estimated $490m. Travel was no problem, with fleets of Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maybachs and a couple Bugatti Veyrons, along with a squadron of luxury jets, not the least of which were a Falcon 900, Gulfstream IV, and the Boeing. And to quote, Wolfgang Dürheimer, President and CEO of Bugatti and Bentley: “The Bentley customer on average owns 8 cars. The average Bugatti customer has about 84 cars, 3 jets and one yacht."

It is therefore no surprise that this pragmatic connoisseur would demand no less than the finest military precision and quality in his motor yacht.

Able to select any shipyard in the world; there was only one that met the meticulous high specifications and rigorous standards of a supreme leader.
