The
Selene 66 leads the fleet as one of the largest models of Selene Ocean
Trawlers built by Jet Tern Marine. The Selene 66 is built on the same
hull mold as the Selene 62 and the increase in length allows for
significant expansion of living and operating spaces throughout the
boat.
An extended cockpit adds 7' 3/4" to the covered deck making
room for lounge chairs in addition to the built-in settee while still
leaving plenty of room to access the rounded stairway leading up to the
flybridge.
With the overall increase in the LOA of the Selene 66, the
living space of the saloon received a 27-inch increase. The full living
and dining area of the Selene 66 is on the saloon level and is entered
into from the cockpit. A spacious pilothouse includes the galley so the
cook has an outstanding view from the surrounding windows.
Owners
will enjoy three staterooms with crew quarters aft of the engine room
and all staterooms have ensuite heads. The master stateroom is complete
with a vanity, full length closets, and writing desk. The flybridge can
be accessed from the stairway in the cockpit or from a stairway in the
pilothouse. The Selene 66 flybridge is 37" longer than her 62'
sistership which allows for extended deck space that can accommodate a
large tender as well as comfortable seating for eight.
Machinery
spaces aboard the Selene 66 are easily accessed through a transom door
or side deck door and the engine room features full standing headroom up
to 6’2”. All major components are within reach for ease of maintenance.
In addition to clean engine room spaces, a massive lazarette has space
for separate washer and dryer units stored under a workbench. The
lazarette also includes a sink and freezer for owner convenience.

Crew Head
ESCAPADE includes extensive systems to allow for comfortable and efficient cruising. Many systems have been designed to allow for redundancy and with consideration of back-up procedures to allow voyages to continue even with possible equipment issues. Service and maintenance has been considered in the engineering of equipment layout. Here is a partial list of equipment and systems aboard.
ESCAPADE features twin skegs and rudders for the John Deere 6081 engines. In addition, there is a bulbous bow option with recessed bow thruster tunnel. The Awlgrip “Flag Blue” paint option was selected as well as International Black color anti-fouling bottom paint. Bow and Stern thrusters are hydraulic. In addition, there are 4 aft-facing and 2 side facing Under Water Lights by IMTRA.
ESCAPADE is designed to be easy to operate and be thrifty on power. With 4 trips to Alaska and also up into the Columbia River as far as Lewiston, Idaho, the extremes from cold air temperatures of Alaska to the 105 degree heat of Idaho show that the attention to detail during the build of ESCAPADE has paid off.
The Cruiseair system is designed with a 3-stage chiller which includes 3 compressors in the lazzarette. These are turned on by the Cruiseaire system individually based on demand, which saves power consumption. This system covers all interior spaces in 7 zones, providing reverse cycle for both heating or cooling depending on climate.
Escapade uses two separate heating systems – the Cruiseair reverse cycle with auxiliary heat and also the Kabola hydronic heating system that covers all areas as well and includes the Cockpit, Flybridge, and head floor heat in 13 thermostatically controlled zones. The Kabola system, in addition to providing cabin heat, also heats two upgraded Surejet S/S hot water tanks of 30 and 40 gallons, respectively.
The Kabola operates on diesel and a does not need shore power or genset to operate.
The Audio and Visual Entertainment System aboard ESCAPADE is extensive, providing Owner and Guests an entertainment system found on much larger yachts. This Selene 66 has an upgraded Twin Engine Package. It features the twin John Deere 6081 (M4) 375 hp diesel engines. Also upgraded are helm engine controls to John Deere HelmView displays with complete instrumentation and alarms.
In addition, the transmissions were upgraded to ZF 350s, which provide a C pad for SAE C PTO (live) power-take-off for the hydraulic pumps. The transmissions also have a Smart Commander Kit with Electronic Shift and Troll, Normal Profile Control Heads ( 2), and SC Processors.
Escapade has two generators: a 25 KW Northern Lights Genset and 9 KW Northern Lights Genset, both with sound shields and remote control stations in the Pilothouse.
The Hynautic steering system is hydraulic for both Pilothouse and Flybridge helms and supplied by pressure from both port and starboard main engines. System is also tied into the autopilot control. Twin kegs protect the propellers and rudders as well as provide good tracking performance.
ESCAPADE comes with a thorough hydraulic system with several capabilities. First is the hydraulic PTO pumps off the main engines; the 25 kw generator and a 5-function manifold. The system has a 30 gallon hydraulic reservoir with sea-water cooling pump and backup heat exchanger cooling on the 25KW generator. Filters, cooling, and level sensing keep the system in optimal operating performance. This system supplies hydraulic pressure to the Wesmar Stabilizers, Proportional Controlled Bow and Stern Thrusters, Anchor Windlass, and emergency hydraulic bilge pump system.
This Selene 66 has a customized fuel load to accommodate the owner’s engine package and cruising plans. ESCAPADE features a fuel tank system of 2,300 gallons in 2 outboard tanks of 1,250 each. These 2 tanks were divided as 1,100 gallon main tanks with 150 gallon reserve tanks. All tanks are plumbed for source and return to the engines as well as to – and from – the ESI Fuel Polishing System. In addition, deck fills for Fuel are into all 4 tanks with a 2 inch crossover for transfer while filling.
The ESI Fuel Polishing System allows you to polish fuel for the main engines and generators, as well as transfer, supply fuel through a hose (during filter changes) and to also suck fuel from the tank bottoms for cleaning. The fuel system has been ungraded to Headhunter electric fuel gauges in addition to the magnetic fuel sight gauges for each of the four tanks. 2,300 gallons of Diesel Fuel
ESCAPADE features a 120v 60 hz system with some A/C loads designed for 240v. There are two main electrical panels in the Pilothouse that service and control the vessel’s electrical needs. Full control of the 12v DC, 24v DC, 120v AC, and 240v AC service is provided through 11 sub-panels installed in the Pilothouse within the 2 main panels mentioned above. These are clearly labeled and identified for quick reference to each system.
An Upgraded 25 kw Northern Lights Generator with sound shield was specified, as well as a 9kw Northern Lights back-up generator, which are stacked, providing away-from-dock electrical service. The House Battery bank was upgraded to 2000ah, divided into 2 house battery banks. This is primarily a 24Volt DC system yacht, with some 12v for outlets and electronics that require it. The 12v panel is powered by transformers from the 24 v system to reduce the need for a separate 12v charger.
The Inverter System is Mastervolt with Dual 4 KW inverters to supply two 115v inverter legs. These Inverters are Combo Units that include chargers, but these are not generally used unless using 30 amp dock service. Outlets: Inverter outlets are gray color and non-inverter outlets are white in color.
One Mastervolt 3-Bank charger is 100 amps for Port Engine, Starboard Engine, and Generator starting batteries. A second Mastervolt charger is 100 amps is for the House Batteries, used in lieu of the Mastervolt Combi units.
AC Source from dockside power via the 50 amp plugs was designed by Harris Electric with Charles Industries components which include Charles A/B switches, and a generator/shore auto-switcher to seamlessly transfer power from 4 dock sources and 2 generators sources. The 2 Charles ISO-boost units isolate and regulate the input shore power sources. This system produces two 230v output busses. Shore power – (2) bow 50 amp, (2) stern 50 amp, and (1) 30 amp Marinaco shore power inlets. Includes Marinco TV & Telephone Inlet.
The aft shore power inlet is a 50 amp cord on the Glendinning Cablemaster system with 75 feet cable. A second 50 amp inlet is also at the stern, with 2 50 amp inlets at the bow for docking bow-in.
The Selene 66 has an Electrical Room located in the Master stairwell located amidships on the Port Side. This is the location of the Mastervolt house charging system; the starting battery charging system is in the Engine Room. Mastervolt MICC remote displays are located in the main electrical panel for both inverters.
For DC charging when not on shore power, both main engines have 150 amp Mastervolt alternators and regulators which charge the house batteries.
There are 4 disconnect/parallel switches – one for each of the 4 battery sets; house, port start, starboard start, and generator.
Overall, this entire electrical system was specifically designed to allow for extended cruising and allow the main engines to recharge while underway primarily using the (2) main engine 150 amp alternators. The 9KW generator is used to augment this charging capability when necessary. The 120v service is routinely provided through the 2 4KW Mastervolt Inverters.
ESCAPADE features the Dual Headhunter Xcaliber XR-124s, one is 24v DC, the other AC, and designed to be quiet. The expansion tank is Headhunter AVF-6 and the system includes a full-flow UV light and charcoal filter system. Watermaker is Village Marine 1200 GPD with fresh water flush.
ESCAPADE has both Black Water and Grey Water tanks with discharge pumps. The Grey Water holding is 160 gallons, with a grey water sump located in the crew area which has an automatic Rule pump to move volume to the primary holding tank. Black water is 250 gallons with 30 gallons for the Crew Area. It has a Y-valve, Jabsco macerator pump, deck discharge outlet, and full display panel in Pilothouse. Macerator can be set on a timer with an active LED on the Pilothouse boat display for both main and crew holding tanks and macerators.
ESCAPADE was originally designed to allow cruising the Great Loop and make the trip easier by lowering the radar arch for bridges. The Radar Arch and the associated sub-arch utilize a custom electric screw to lower the assembly. The radar arch tilts back on its aft hinge and once lowered brings the overall bridge clearance from 24 feet to approximately 18 feet 10 inches. This can vary with fuel and equipment load.
This is also an excellent feature for getting into a boathouse or covered moorage. Always verify the actual height needed.
Jet Tern Marine fabricated custom FRP panels designed with polycarbonate window panels from Barrett enclosures to create an extension of the Main Salon, while allowing full side deck access. These panels can be removed and stowed in S/S and starboard mounts on the Boat Deck to reconfigure and allow an open-air Cockpit. With its twin tables and leaf, curved settee, wrapped with a teak caprail, the cockpit and enclosure options can react to create many different configurations depending on the need.
The FRP enclosure has doors that can keep the Salon and Cockpit comfortable while keeping the side decks free for passage fore and aft. This is an excellent feature in any climate.
Exterior Features
The exterior decks of ESCAPADE are all teak, including Foredeck, Side Decks, Cockpit, Flybridge, Boat Deck, Cockpit and Swimstep. ESCAPADE has a Portuguese Bridge with a stainless steel cap rail, while the Side Decks have a teak cap. Fifteen courtesy lights provide illumination to these decks at night.
This Selene 66Flybridge incorporates a Radar Arch, designed to hinge and lower down electrically for either a boat house or to cruise under bridges. The down-arch measurement is approximately 18 feet 10 inches.
The canvas package aboard features a stainless steel bow framework and bimini canvas, in addition to a full canvas enclosure with polycarbonate window panels from Barrett Enclosures that can completely enclose the Flybridge. The bows can be removed and stored in stainless holders on the radar arch and boat deck. A stainless steel sub-arch is mounted on reinforced pads within the FRB radar arch to provide a platform for navigation and communication electronics.
ESCAPADE features an extended Boat Deck which covers the Aft Deck Cockpit seating below. The standard Selene curved stairway was upgraded to a square hatch that can cover the cockpit below from weather and uses a ladder with FRP steps. This change increases space in the Cockpit and allows better use of the boat deck space for additional area to enjoy when the tender is down, as well as leave space for future scooter or jet ski space.
The Steelhead Davit system is located on the aft end of the boat deck, allowing you to lower the tender to the water at the stern of ESCAPADE once you are in a slip and not rely on port or starboard docking.
The boat deck is so large that you can fully load the 15 foot AB DLZ Nautilus tender with 60 hp Yahama engine inside the stainless steel safety rails. Six deck drains help shed water quickly overboard. Total length of the Boat Deck is 19 feet.
The Tender aboard ESCAPADE has a full equipment list to allow for cruising away from the yacht to go fishing, water skiing or wakeboarding, and exploring. Situated on stainless steel bunks, the AB 15 foot tender does not need to have the engine raised to load onto the boat deck. This extra height allows for storage below the tender for extra gear or water sports toys.
Expedition Tank - There is a 30 gallon gasoline fuel tank located on the Flybridge. This is designed to provide extra fuel for the tender and allow for exploring between fill ups. The tank is located under the U-settee on the Flybridge.
The Swim Platform is often the start of your experience aboard ESCAPADE. Twin Boarding doors allow you access to the main deck of the yacht. This area has teak decks with six removable stainless steel rails. There are large cleats port and starboard for docking, with 2 additional folding cleats for tying up the AB tender. The Crew Area and Lazzarette can be accessed via the Transom Door, which is a pantograph door that folds out and to the starboard to allow access to the interior. Stainless Steel grab rail on the transom
The bilges are epoxy painted, as is standard with Selene, with upgraded bilge lighting to LED. Bilges have blowers as well. There is also some Auxiliary Storage space in the Forward Guest Foyer and the Engine Room bilge areas. High water warning and operation notification that one of the Rule bilge pumps has been added to the Krill System and also the Selene Profile light board at the Pilothouse overhead view panel.
There are 2 systems for flooding control aboard – the Manual Emergency Bilge Pump system with manifold and hose runs to each bilge area (which is Selene standard) and also an added Auxiliary Hydraulic Bilge Pump, which is powered by a pump located in the Cockpit Cabinet. Both the Manual and Hydraulic Bilge Pumps are plumbed to the manifold system and clearly labeled to allow for pumping a specific bilge area. An accessory suction hose is provided for bailing tenders, etc.
Watertight Doors
There are 4 watertight doors aboard: the Engine Room forward door, the Engine Room Aft Door to the Crew Foyer, the Crew Foyer to the Lazzarette area, and the Transom door from the Lazzarette to the outside Swim Step.
