Overview

The Selene 66 leads the fleet as one of the largest models of Selene Ocean Trawlers built by Jet Tern Marine. The Selene 66 is built on the same hull mold as the Selene 62 and the increase in length allows for significant expansion of living and operating spaces throughout the boat.
An extended cockpit adds 7' 3/4" to the covered deck making room for lounge chairs in addition to the built-in settee while still leaving plenty of room to access the rounded stairway leading up to the flybridge.
With the overall increase in the LOA of the Selene 66, the living space of the saloon received a 27-inch increase. The full living and dining area of the Selene 66 is on the saloon level and is entered into from the cockpit. A spacious pilothouse includes the galley so the cook has an outstanding view from the surrounding windows.
Owners will enjoy three staterooms with crew quarters aft of the engine room and all staterooms have ensuite heads. The master stateroom is complete with a vanity, full length closets, and writing desk. The flybridge can be accessed from the stairway in the cockpit or from a stairway in the pilothouse. The Selene 66 flybridge is 37" longer than her 62' sistership which allows for extended deck space that can accommodate a large tender as well as comfortable seating for eight.
Machinery spaces aboard the Selene 66 are easily accessed through a transom door or side deck door and the engine room features full standing headroom up to 6’2”. All major components are within reach for ease of maintenance. In addition to clean engine room spaces, a massive lazarette has space for separate washer and dryer units stored under a workbench. The lazarette also includes a sink and freezer for owner convenience.

And the 66' Selene 2008 "Escapade" is no exception. Highlighting "Escapade's" distinctions include the reliable John Deere 6081 M4 375hp mains, ZF 360 gearboxes with PTO pumps, AC block heaters, Northern Lights 9kW  & 25kW gensets with sound shields and remote panels in PH, 2 Mastervolt 4kW Combi Inverters, Wesmar 12 sq. ft. digital stabilizers with "At-Anchor Stabilization", Wesmar 35hp proportional hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, Cruiseair airconditioning/heat climate system with 7 zones, Kabola B17 hydronic diesel heat system with 13 zones, 6 Ambient Nav monitors, Furuno NavNet 3D systems with Furuno 25kW open array radar, PC with Windows 7 operating system and Nobeltec & Trident navigational software with Nobeltec IR 6.4 open array radar, Krill vessel monitoring and control systems, Sylvia Bolton Design interior, FLIR fixed mount thermal camera, KVH M7 & HD7 satellite TV antenna system with 7 DirecTV receivers, Iridium 9505A satellite phone antenna system, KVH VSAT system, LED lighting throughout, Imtra underwater lights, Yacht Controller wireless remote system, Village Marine 1200 gpd watermaker, 2 Charles ISO Boost Transformers, ESI fuel polishing system with fuel transfer, Reverso GP-706 heavy duty oil change system, 30 gallon gasoline fuel tank with pump and hose/nozzle on the flying bridge, Steelhead 1750R yacht crane and an AB 15DLX Nautilus tender with a Yamaha 60hp outboard.

Accommodations

The Selene 66 is a world cruiser that offers owners and guests excellent spaces inside and out.  Starting with a fuel-efficient and modern hull design, the Selene 66 "ESCAPADE" was constructed for long range cruising comfort with family cruising in mind.

Featuring the Selene signature Deep Hull, this gives the Selene 66 Ocean Trawler excellent range and sea keeping abilities.  The owner selected twin John Deere 6081 diesels for their thrifty fuel consumption, reliable power, and serviceability.  The twin 375 engines power the Selene 66 to 11.5 knots top end and cruise very economically on this displacement trawler at 8.5 knots.

ESCAPADE features the Galley-up layout, giving owners and guests a large main salon and dining area to enjoy each other and meals.  The Galley-up design puts the galley in the Pilothouse area, which also offers additional seating and a table for guests to enjoy meals and cruising at the same time.

The Selene 66 layout features a centerline, amidships Master Stateroom for the most comfort.  The Master Stateroom is separated from the forward accommodation, allowing for more storage and a washer and dryer to be placed in the standard center passageway.  An added stairway from the Main Salon provides access to the Master Stateroom while the standard stairway from the Pilothouse allows access to the VIP and Guest staterooms forward.

Additional accommodations are aft in the Crew Area, which the owner often utilizes when he is without his wife and has additional guests and grandkids aboard.  The Crew Cabin is finished out with the same high-quality furnishings as the other staterooms.

The Cruiseair system is designed with a 3-stage chiller which includes 3 compressors in the lazzarette.  These are turned on by the Cruiseaire system individually based on demand, which saves power consumption.  This system covers all interior spaces in 7 zones, providing reverse cycle for both heating or cooling depending on climate.

Escapade uses two separate heating systems – the Cruiseair reverse cycle with auxiliary heat and also the Kabola hydronic heating system that covers all areas as well and includes the Cockpit, Flybridge, and head floor heat in 13 thermostatically controlled zones.  The Kabola system, in addition to providing cabin heat, also heats two upgraded Surejet S/S hot water tanks of 30 and 40 gallons, respectively.

The Kabola operates on diesel and a does not need shore power or genset to operate.

An Upgraded 25 kw Northern Lights Generator with sound shield was specified, as well as a 9kw Northern Lights back-up generator, which are stacked, providing away-from-dock electrical service.  The House Battery bank was upgraded to 2000ah, divided into 2 house battery banks. This is primarily a 24Volt DC system yacht, with some 12v for outlets and electronics that require it.  The 12v panel is powered by transformers from the 24 v system to reduce the need for a separate 12v charger.

The Inverter System is Mastervolt with Dual 4 KW inverters to supply two 115v inverter legs.  These Inverters are Combo Units that include chargers, but these are not generally used unless using 30 amp dock service.   Outlets:  Inverter outlets are gray color and non-inverter outlets are white in color.

One Mastervolt  3-Bank charger is 100 amps for Port Engine, Starboard Engine, and Generator starting batteries.  A second Mastervolt charger is 100 amps is for the House Batteries, used in lieu of the Mastervolt Combi units.

AC Source from dockside power via the 50 amp plugs was designed by Harris Electric with Charles Industries components which include Charles A/B switches, and a generator/shore auto-switcher to seamlessly transfer power from 4 dock sources and 2 generators sources.  The 2 Charles ISO-boost units isolate and regulate the input shore power sources.  This system produces two 230v output busses.  Shore power – (2) bow 50 amp, (2) stern 50 amp, and (1) 30 amp Marinaco shore power inlets.  Includes Marinco TV & Telephone Inlet.

The aft shore power inlet is a 50 amp cord on the Glendinning Cablemaster system with 75 feet cable.  A second 50 amp inlet is also at the stern, with 2 50 amp inlets at the bow for docking bow-in.

The Selene 66 has an Electrical Room located in the Master stairwell located amidships on the Port Side.  This is the location of the Mastervolt house charging system; the starting battery charging system is in the Engine Room. Mastervolt MICC remote displays are located in the main electrical panel for both inverters.

For DC charging when not on shore power, both main engines have 150 amp Mastervolt alternators and regulators which charge the house batteries.

There are 4 disconnect/parallel switches – one for each of the 4 battery sets; house, port start, starboard start, and generator.

Overall, this entire electrical system was specifically designed to allow for extended cruising and allow the main engines to recharge while underway primarily using the (2) main engine 150 amp alternators.  The 9KW generator is used to augment this charging capability when necessary.  The 120v service is routinely provided through the 2 4KW Mastervolt Inverters.

Boathouse or Great Loop Clearance Data

ESCAPADE was originally designed to allow cruising the Great Loop and make the trip easier by lowering the radar arch for bridges.  The Radar Arch and the associated sub-arch utilize a custom electric screw to lower the assembly.  The radar arch tilts back on its aft hinge and once lowered brings the overall bridge clearance from 24 feet to approximately 18 feet 10 inches. This can vary with fuel and equipment load.

This is also an excellent feature for getting into a boathouse or covered moorage.  Always verify the actual height needed.

  • Selene Radar with sub-radar arch
  • Arch lowers/raises using electric motor at hinges
  • Sub-Arch mounts radar and antennas
  • Bridge Clearance Max – 24 feet
