2008 34' Venture Center Console Cuddy
"TUNA KAHUNA"

Tuna Kahuna is an impeccably maintained, extensively equipped high quality center console.
She features twin Mercury 300 Verados that deliver an honest 34 knot cruise. Her Sea Foam
Green Hull and Jet Black bottom Paint only add to her "drop-dead" good looks.

Please view full specifications for complete details.

General Observations

One of the first things you'll notice on a Venture boat is the oversized hinges and latches on all the doors and hatches.  The transom and console head door are especially impressive. Where most manufacturers use an inexpensive flat composite material, Venture uses a molded fiberglass piece.  This allows them to add radius where necessary to be sure of a tight, seamless fit. This build process is very labor intensive and something you'd expect from a custom boat.   The obsessive attention to detail is evident throughout the boat.  Open up any hatch and you'll see the high quality stainless steel support pistons as well as all floor hatches feature high density foam infused coring with resin transfer molded fiberglass construction delivering superior strength.

During our sea trial it was immediately evident the Venture 34 is a seaworthy boat, we ran 34 knots in 3-5 footers and the ride was truly amazing.  The hull pierced through the oncoming swells without any pounding or jarring.  There's no holding onto the T-Top for dear life.  The Verado’s performed flawlessly and sounded great underway.

Around the docks she handles extremely well.  The Verado outboards are properly spaced allowing the operator to maneuver her like she is an inboard boat.

Deck / Hull

Tuna Kahuna features a beautiful Sea Foam Green gelcoat with Black Petit Vivid Ablative bottom paint, painted to follow the waterline.  The Gelcoat is in excellent condition with no signs of fading.  A notable option not found on many of the Venture 34's is the Thru-the-Hull Anchor Windlass; this option provides a flush fit for the highly polished Plow-style anchor.  The windlass capstan, line and chain are neatly concealed inside the bow anchor hatch.

  • Oversized top-loading anchor locker
  • White vinyl rubrail with HD Stainless Steel Insert
  • (6) stainless steel rod holders
  • Vacuum-bagged PVC foam core
  • High-density polyurethane transom core
  • Solid stringers and bulkheads
  • Kevlar and biaxial fiberglass
  • Vinylester and isopthalic resins
  • Diamond-pattern nonskid, gunwales and hatches
  • Finished below deck boxes and inside hatches
  • Marine-grade aluminum fuel tanks
  • Flush-mounted stainless steel hardware

Cockpit / Stern Area

Boarding Tuna Kahuna from the starboard transom door and entering the cockpit you will find a 55 gallon transom mounted livewell with light blue gel coat and LED lighting. Adjacent to the livewell are fresh and saltwater spigots with self retracting hoses draining into a fiberglass wash-down basin.

The cockpit area has an access hatch to the bilge pumps, fuel water separators and thru hull valves.  Other features include:

  • Concealed storage for the Armstrong swim ladder
  • Bilge Pump access
  • Transducer access
  • Macerator access
  • Oversized Fishbox with Macerator

Console

The console size is proportional to the rest of the boat which further enhances the good looks of Tuna Kahuna.  Manufacturers are sometimes tempted to move the console too far forward giving you the illusion that the cockpit is larger than their competitors; not on this boat.  The cockpit is plenty big and the console is perfectly positioned on the liner. Notable features include:

  • (1) Black Lexan Electronics panel with locks.  This panel does not require removal to operate the electronics; it is engineered to slide into its own dedicated slot while the electronics are in use.
  • All edges and corners of the console feature a smooth radius
  • Built in forward console seat with insulated drink cooler below.
  • Removable forward console seat backrest (attaches via C-Channel)
  • Fiberglass Head door with Stainless Steel locking handle
  • Curved to follow front top edge of console EZ2CY Hard Lucite windscreen
  • Gore-Tex Zipper tracks and C-Channel on each side of the console for the additional Strataglass Spray Curtains that extend the enclosure out to the gunnel and then attach to the ring deck and liner with clips and zippers.
  • Molded in Footrest with storage area below
  • 30 Amp battery charger with outlet
  • Ritchie Compass
  • Power assist Hydraulic Steering
  • Edson 16" 3-spoke brushed aluminum steering wheel with tilt helm

Inside the Console (which is accessed on the Port side) there 6'0" headroom with a freshwater wash basin, porcelain electric head, concealed toilet paper dispenser, storage drawers as well as access to vessel's wiring, terminal blocks, battery switches and batteries.  (Please refer to wiring pictures to see the attention to detail paid when she was wired).

Tackle Center / Leaning Post

The Tackle Center provides storage for 12 Plano tackle boxes as well as two over sized pull out drawers.  The base of the tackle center is fiberglass with a removable Aluminum back rest.  Additional features include:

  • (5) Rod 30 degree rod holders
  • (4) Deep Cup Holders with drains
  • U-shaped grab handle for passengers standing behind the Leaning Post.  This grab handle is one piece and provides a safe, ergonomic brace point for the worst of sea conditions.
  • Port and Starboard grab handles; these are just forward of the large U-shaped grab handle.
  • Fold down aluminum foot rest

T-Top

The T-top is fabricated out of high quality anodized aluminum.  The top itself is molded fiberglass (not (2) fiberglass panels sandwiched together and then held together with a riveted belly band.)  Feature to the T-Top include:

  • Underside awl-gripped Sea Foam Green to match the hull
  • Aluminum is anodized and finished in hi-gloss finish
  • Fiberglass hardtop portside access hatch; provides easy, safe access to top of T-Top for maintenance or for future access to access Crow's Nest or Second Station.
  • (2) 8' Fiberglass Antennas - (1) VHF, (1) FM Radio
  • (2) Rupp Z-30 T-Top mounted outriggers with adjustable height collars
  • (3) Spreader Lights, LED dual color
  • (4) LED RBG lights flush mounted in the underside of the lid
  • Mercury VesselView - providing all engine data, RPMs, fuel burn, voltage, engine temp, as well as all diagnostic and historical engine data. (new in 2013; upgraded to color screen)

  • Fusion FM-504 4-channel 600 Watt Amp
  • Speakers; (4) under gunnel "box style" speakers as well as (2) flush mount speakers on the underside of the T-Top.

Cuddy

The Cuddy was engineered to maximize interior space without compromising functionality. The interior features teak accents and recessed lighting. Pull out the cushions on the spacious 7-foot bunk, and the entire cuddy can be hosed out. The Cuddy elegantly adds a little more comfort to the offshore scene. Features to the Cuddy include:

Saltwater Sportsman Quote

"How do you measure the success of an offshore Center Console; by its speed, stability and how dry it is. The Venture 34 delivers the confidence to run offshore when others wouldn't dare to be offshore.  The 34 provides serious offshore enthusiasts with a high performance hull design.  When drifting or trolling the 34 is very stable thanks to a wide 10 ft beam and low center of gravity virtually eliminating the heavy rolling associated with Deep Vee hulls."

Remarks

Tuna Kahuna is in remarkable condition.  She is a one-owner boat that has received the utmost care and maintenance over the years. The forward Cuddy Cabin is a nice addition for those that want the benefits of a center console, but also want a comfortable family boat and additional storage.

Tuna Kahuna is one of the few Venture 34 hulls featuring the Generation II hull and the Mercury 300 Verado package.  This package delivers an impressive 34 knot cruise burning only 30 gallons an hour.

More importantly this boat has not been heavily fished.  You will not find gaff marks in the fiberglass or tears in the cushions.
