Overview

Awesome I is the first of eight power catamarans, originally designed as a stable platform to cruise from New Zealand to Tahiti without fuel stops. Therefore she has the ability to cover great distances efficiently and at comfortable speeds. At an economic cruise speed of 20 knots, she can cover close to 500 miles in a day. Excellent sight lines give her ease of docking and maneuvering in very tight quarters thanks to 360 degree unobstructed visibility from the bridge deck.

Layout & Accommodations

Entrance to the main salon is aft through the cockpit. The modern layout features a roomy galley to port and a lounging area to starboard. Recessed and task lighting accent the salon. Remote control window treatments port and starboard provide easy adjustments for changing privacy and light requirements.

An extensive navigation station completes the main salon. It has a Brazilian Cherry appointed console and gray leather helm seat with unobstructed views on all sides. Details of equipment housed here will be included in a later review of electronics. The starboard hull is dedicated to the owner's suite. The stairs down port and starboard are Brazilian Cherry with indirect LED lighting.

The GALLEY is "up" in the salon, located to port of the salon entrance. It has full-size modern appliances and and "island" for food preparation and dining.

Weather fax, phone and computer connections are installed here. Easily accessible 110-volt outlets and phone jacks provide convenience for computer and communications needs. Forward is the head compartment which includes a molded tub/shower unit, a molded sink with vanity, Vacu-flush toilet, and plenty of storage. Abundant opening hatches and port lights lend superb ventilation and natural light throughout this area.

The PORT HULL houses a double Guest Stateroom aft which features a queen-sized bed with innerspring mattress, a generous hanging locker with mirrored doors, recessed lighting, two opening 12" x 12" hatches, two opening port lights, and a privacy lock. Plentiful ventilation through opening hatches and port lights.
