Features

ISLAND LURE is a fantastic example of a true Cabo built in Adelento, CA.  Her Michael Peters hull design sets the standard by which all other boats this size are measured.  She has a sharp entry with a large bow flare for a soft dry head sea ride.  Her wide beam, shallow draft and partial keel make for a stable comfortable ride in both beam and following seas.  Cabo build quality, fit, finish and electrical engineering is well known as best in class.  “Island Lure” has been used as a family fishing and diving boat her whole life.  She has been well cared for and nicely updated over the years.  If you are in the market for a rigged out 40 foot express boat, your search should start and end with “Island Lure.”

Walkthrough and highlights

Lower Accommodations

Just to starboard of the centerline helm is a heavy plexiglass door that slides open to access the lower accommodations.  Three steps down brings you in the salon/galley area.  The Cabo interior finish is simple, but like the rest of the boat best built in class.  The salon sole is solid teak and holly, a factory option and all the cabinetry is solid satin finished teak.

To Starboard is the L shaped ultra leather sofa with high gloss teak table.  This table is removable and then the sofa transforms into a pull out bed and the back flips up to create a bunk. Also to stbd aft is a large stand up rod locker.

To port is the galley and aft is a full head.   Features include:

  • Corian countertops
  • Solid teak cabinetry
  • Side by side refrigerator / freezer
  • Two burner electric cook top
  • Deep stainless steel sink
  • Tons of storage
  • Microwave oven

Large head and HUGE shower, AC vent in head, mirror, storage, Vacuflush marine toilet w/ tank indicator light

Cockpit

The cockpit of the 40 Cabo Island Lure is all business!  Whether fishing, diving or cocktail cruising she has it all.  Her 15’9” beam is very evident and there is tons of room to work and maneuver.  Cockpit features include:

  • Swim platform
  • oversize tuna door
  • Underwater lights
  •  custom rocket launcher
  • Twin macerated fish boxes
  •  port fish box chiller plate
  • Stand up bait prep and sink
  •  bait freezer
  • Insulated drink box
  •  fresh water hot and cold shower
  • Pancake style teaser reels

Helm  Deck

Two small steps up from the cockpit brings you the raised helm deck.  She is very comfortably appointed and offers great seating and views of all the action.  There is an L shaped seating area to port.  Across to stbd is a tackle storage center with a flat top.  This spot is good for a great many things.  I have seen it used as a bar, hors d’oeuvres serving, tackle and gear placement, and even a nice elevated seat. Additional helm deck highlights include:

  • (2) 12,000 BTU helm deck air conditioners
  • BOW THRUSTER
  • Captain and companion STIDD helm chairs
  • Teak patterned indoor outdoor carpeting
  • Ice maker
  • Centerline helm station
  • Tackle and gear storage
  • Hard top mounted grab rails for moving safely underway

Full complement of Navigation electronics including UPDATED GARMIN 7212 WITH CHIRP TECHNOLOGY, Furuno chart plotter and radar, Icom VHF radio, Furuno RD 30 for speed, temp and depth, and updated Fusion stereo system.

TOWER

“Island Lure” has a fully custom J&J tuna tower.  Its tower legs are oversized and she is polished aluminum in lieu of a standard anodized finish.  She has a GARMIN 7112 up in the tower to match the one below, CAT controls, VHF radio, and stereo speakers.

ENGINE ROOM

The engine room on the 40 Cabo has a glassed in gel coat liner that makes clean up a breeze.  Fluids, oil or dirt does not get into the fiberglass filaments and texture like other inferior finished vessels.  “The engine room on Island Lure shows well, just like the rest of the vessel.  You can access it from a helm deck day hatch or tilt it up for huge access on two large hydraulic rams.  Some of the engine room highlights include:

  • CAT C 12 power (2100 hours
  • NEW HEAT EXCHANGERS 2016
  • Aftercooler service 2016
  • Maintenance records available
  • Westerbeke gen set
  • Reverso oil changing system
  • electric fuel priming pumps
  • Racor fuel filter
  • optional engine room RPM gauges
  • Battery charging system
