Vessel Overview

“Southerly” is a hard chine, down east fly bridge lobster boat with a hull designed for her speed vs. some of the round chine wetter riding competition. She features two steering stations, two cabins with a large salon berth and a galley down layout with one head and enclosed shower stall.

Accomodations

Two-stateroom layout with offset double berth to port in forward cabin and upper and lower berths in guest cabin to starboard. Large head with separate shower stall opposite guest cabin followed by a U-shaped galley to starboard. Up a few steps is a bright and airy salon with lower helm, chart table / breakfast bar, and a convertible settee with a high low table and teak and holly sole throughout. . Access to the fly bridge is from the aft cockpit with full canvas and enclosures, two helm seats, cocktail table and a storage box and aft seat. The cockpit is large and has a full size transom door leading to the swim platform with mounted swim ladder.

Master and Guest Staterooms, Salon and Galley

There is abundant storage finished with high quality joinery, opening hatch and portholes and 12 volt lighting. The guest cabin is to starboard with over under berths and also has abundant storage also finished with nice high quality joinery. The head is to port opposite the guest cabin. The head is unusually large for a 36’ yacht and has a separate shower stall with a door. The galley is next aft to port in a galley down layout. The seller has upgraded the electric stove to storage and a cutting board. He also installed a Tasco two burner stove with an oven. There are also some clever improvements with sliders in the drop box storage areas. The salon has unusually large windows for an open feel and increased visibility underway. The helm is to starboard with a stool helm seat and a full array of electronics within easy view. The settee is L shaped with new sea foam green patterned covers 6/2013 which slides open to a large berth and has a beautiful wood high low table. The salon features newly covered upholstery and for privacy has sunshades cleverly hidden by teak trim to port and starboard and aft. The present owner has built a full sized screen door and the yacht also has wood hatch screens mounted throughout. There are also sun covers for the outside of the windshield.

Comments

“SOUTHERLY” is painted flag blue with white cabin and has a beautiful down east traditional look yet has a hard chine for a smooth and dry ride. The layout is very functional and provides an open airy feeling below and in the salon. The fly bridge has full instrumentation and provides a second option underway in good weather. The fly bridge features full navy canvas with enclosures yet due to the second steering station below the present seller has never put them on. “Southerly” is a well taken care of example of this desirable down east sedan cruiser built with pride and old world craftsmanship by Cape Dory. She can comfortably cruise with 4-6 guests with room to spare. “SOUTHERLY” will not disappoint upon inspection and is offered for sale after continuous upgrades by her caring and very talented owners.
