Overview

JUST REDUCED AGAIN - PRICED $81,000 LESS THAN  APPRAISED VALUE.

VALOR
is a remarkable boat by any standards. A perfect Great Loop boat and Bahamas cruiser, she began her life as the culmination of one man’s dreams. Together with one of the premier builders in Taiwan she was designed and built to cruise the coastlines and rivers of the Americas as well as the islands of the Bahamas and Caribbean in style and comfort whether dockside or “on the hook”.  Even VALOR’s tender is well equipped for ease of use and maximum enjoyment once anchored.  Her 60 hp Yamaha 4-stroke OB was just serviced again and is perfect for exploring back coves and rivers and is fast enough to waterski behind.

From her glistening black hull to her luxurious teak and burled wood interior VALOR is the type of yacht that exudes pride of ownership. She is hull #36 of this series of boats built at the Tania Yacht Co. facility in Taiwan and was completed before the importer of these fine yachts slipped into financial difficulty. The first of her 3 owners had her built and was a very hands on buyer. He visited the factory more than once during the many months it took to complete this customized limited production yacht. As a knowledgeable yachtsman no detail was over looked and it is obvious that his wife had a lot to do with the interior layout and details. They then cruised this beautiful yacht for 3+ years and sold her to another yachtsman from Alabama who cruised her lightly for another 3 years and then put her up for sale. During her life VALOR has spent much time in covered slips and fresh water rivers and lakes including the last year of her life under her second ownership when she was berthed in a protected covered slip in Demopolis, Alabama.

It was there that the current owners found her and fell in love. They have not only continued to maintain her in proper condition they stepped it up a notch. All machinery and machinery services were brought up to date including CAT 1000 hour service for both mains at 2150 hours. All systems were thoroughly inspected, many items serviced and some even replaced preemptively in preparation for extended cruising. No detail was overlooked.  The hull was and has been repeatedly polished with the latest in polymer treatments to maintain her deep mirror like finish. The Salon settee was removed and more comfortable furniture including a sleeper sofa was installed expanding the sleeping capacity for when the grand children or extra guests are aboard. (A large Day Head is just steps away.) The fixed varnished cockpit table was removed creating more aft deck space. The three salon/galley counter bar stools were also removed and are in storage.

During her last annual visit to the yard VALOR 3 coats of fresh Sea Hawk BIOCOP bottom paint, running gear cleanup and refinishing with Prop speed, stabilizer service and exterior & hull polishing. The CAT electronic displays (ECMs) show only 2556 & 2558 hours on her 700hp Caterpillar C-12 diesel engines. At the time of the current owner’s purchase the ECMs showed 2115 hours and had burned about 4.3 gallons per hour per engine during that time. It was noted then by the CAT surveyor that “The established overall load factor of the engines in this vessel is exceptional at 21% - 22%. The load factor is well below the Caterpillar recommended maximum percentage load”. He further noted “The port engine has consumed 8,973 gallons of fuel to date, and the starboard 9,150 gallons. The engines are designed to consume approximately 150,000 gallons of fuel before a major overhaul, or achieve approximately 10,000 hours. Scheduling preventive maintenance with the assistance of the fuel consumption is the preferred method over engine hours.” The current owner has continued to cruise her the same way (approx. 9 knots) since purchasing her. As a result the current fuel consumption indicates that only 7% of the engine life has been consumed to date rather than the 26% the engine hours might indicate (which is still a low number). Based on this data someone’s grandchildren will be running this boat before these engines need major service.

As a wise man once told me “The only Constant in Life is Change” and a change in the current owner’s lives and future cruising plans means that VALOR is not the right boat for those plans. They now offer her for sale creating the opportunity for you, her next owners, to realize your dreams of throwing the lines and being free to explore. Explore local haunts, coastal ports near and far, the hidden harbors of the islands, the beauties of the canals and waterways of the U.S. and Canada on the Great Loop or the splendors of the Pacific Northwest.

If these are or have ever been your dreams, VALOR stands ready to take you there safely in style and comfort. She is the perfect size “personal yacht”, large enough to accommodate you and your guests easily but not too big for a couple to handle and maintain along the way.

So act now.  Give me a call, because remember;

On an ancient wall in China Where a brooding Buddha blinks

Deeply Graven is the message “It is later than you think.”

The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power

To tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour.

Now is the time you own, The past is but a golden link

Go cruising now my brother, It is later than you think!

Vessel Walkthrough

Walking down the dock you will have no trouble recognizing VALOR.  She is the first boat you notice with her gleaming black hull and sparkling off white superstructure she stands out from all the other yachts, a result of her constant detailing with the latest polymer products available.  The latest detailing was just completed April 2018.

The vessel VALOR can be boarded via the integral swim platform from a floating dock then up the steps to the Aft Deck. Or from port or starboard hull side gates from fixed docks. The spacious teak Aft Deck has built in seating, storage cabinets, and access to wide covered teak side decks.

Forward through double doors is the spacious Salon with large windows, a built in settee to port, new 42" popup smart TV to starboard and open same level to Galley. The day head is to starboard.

The Pilothouse is four steps up and forward where there is a forward facing settee, center helm and comfortable steps to the Flybridge.

The centerline Master Cabin is accessed from private starboard side stairs next to the Galley. The Master has a king size berth, private head and the yacht's laundry facilities.

Steps from the Pilothouse lead forward to the centerline VIP Cabin, a private Head and a very functional Office Area.

The Flybridge is well laid out with twin helm chairs, ample seating, a great bar with BBQ followed by the open Boat Deck.

The Engine Room is accessible from the Master Cabin or from the Lazarette via a hatch in the Aft Deck sole.

The bow area has built in seating forward of the Portuguese bridge.

Salon

Entering through the double doors from the Aft Deck the bright and airy Salon features a teak and holly sole with a loosely laid area rug. To port upon entering is a swivel LA-Z-Boy recliner followed by a free-standing sofa that converts for sleeping. A built in end table with a table lamp is in the corner between the sofa and chair. A teak hi lo folding leaf table lies in front of the sofa.

To starboard upon entering the Salon is a glass front cabinet with three burlwood storage drawers below. Next forward is a cabinet housing a new popup 42" LED HD smart TV. Twin doors can be opened to allow viewing of the TV while in the down position.  Next forward is a barrel swivel chair with a storage ottoman followed by a bar cabinet concealing a freezer. The private Day Head including a full size Headhunter toilet and vanity within is next forward. Just ahead of the Day Head are the stairs to the private Master Cabin. Forward in the Salon is a bar height granite countertop that faces the open Galley forward.

Also in the Salon port and starboard is soffit type AC delivery, large side windows with Roman shades all around, stereo speakers, 11 overhead mini spots, digital AC controls and two large teak columns set upon the Galley countertop which add a very special feel to this area.

Two teak doors offer storage under the bar facing aft. A teak grab rail is centered overhead in the Salon.  Rope lighting behind the valance offers a very nice nightlight effect.

Galley

The open Galley is next forward and is U-shaped off the portside of the yacht.  It is at the same level as the Salon.  Features of the Galley include the following equipment:

Teak & holly sole
Black Granite countertops
(4) Sub Zero refrigerator drawers w/locks
Fisher Paykel drawer type dishwasher
GE Adventium stainless steel oven/microwave w/exhaust fan & work light
GE Monogram Ceran top 4 burner cook top
Insinkerator garbage disposal
(GE Chest type freezer on Flybridge)
Under mount double stainless steel sink
Removable spray faucet
Ample burlwood drawers & cabinets including cabinets over the breakfast bar

Pilothouse

From the Galley, there are three steps up to the Pilothouse on the starboard side. Immediately to starboard are six carpeted steps with step lights up to the Flybridge via a large sliding hatch. Just forward of the steps is a built in cabinet with three burlwood drawers followed by a Dutch door leading to the side decks. Inboard of the steps from the Galley is a cabinet with the yacht's stereo gear including a Denon Multi Zone audio/video receiver, a Sony DVD player and a 6 position speaker selector. A table lamp is above followed by an L shaped settee with customized teak storage cabinets.   The settee converts to a large watch berth.  Three fiddled bookshelves are behind the settee. A double leaf opening teak table on a stainless steel pedestal is in front of the settee. At the end of the settee is a storage cabinet and two storage drawers. A matching Dutch Pilothouse door is forward to port, both with Heavy Duty locking hardware.

Centerline is the well laid out Helm behind the five panel windshield with AC defogger ducts. All the electronics are expertly placed for ease of navigation. This area has overhead lighting, a teak and holly sole and ample storage drawers and cabinets. Area carpet snapped in place in Pilothouse.

Steps on the starboard side lead forward to the VIP Cabin and custom Office.

VIP Cabin

Unique to this particular 64’ Alaskan the custom VIP Cabin has been expanded allowing the centerline raised queen size pedestal berth to be full size and not tapered.

There are four burlwood drawers in the base and an inset mirrored headboard area forward.  An attractive teak soffit is above the berth with twin reading lights.  Opening stainless steel port lights are concealed behind sliding Soji screens both port and starboard.  Several storage cabinets are below a shelf just below the Soji screens.  Also in this cabin is a full size hanging locker, a dressing mirror and access to the private VIP Head.  TV wiring is available here.

Also in this cabin are swivel reading lights port and starboard, steps to the berth, speakers with volume control, a table lamp, rope lights under the berth, and a hatch to access the Foredeck.

VIP Head

Aft to starboard is the VIP Head which was also enlarged from the standard layout.  The vanity has storage below, an under mount sink in the Granite countertop above and an enlarged stall shower with a light and exhaust fan.  The toilet is a full size Headhunter model.  Opening portholes behind sliding Soji screens with additional storage are above the vanity top.

Office

The area to port where the third stateroom would normally be was built out as an extremely efficient Office Area.

Open to the Companionway this area is both inviting but is also set up to not only run the yacht's business but the owner’s shore side interests as well.

Facing outboard is a Granite topped desk with five drawers below, two cabinets above, a leather office chair and on the forward bulkhead, four additional cabinets, four open storage cuddies and two large file drawers.

Sliding Soji screens above the desk area conceal two opening stainless steel portholes but provide natural light as well.

Master Cabin

Accessed via the private set of stairs opposite the Galley the layout of the 64' Alaskan provides a great Owner's Cabin with total privacy.  Entering from the aft end there is a king size berth forward on centerline with rope accent lighting around the perimeter.  Both port and starboard are teak two drawer nightstands with table lamps above. Rising from the nightstands are twin half columns that flow into a curved soffit with reading lights and rope accent lighting over the head of the berth.  An oval mirror is affixed to the teak bulkhead behind the berth, just above the padded headboard.

To starboard is an open bookshelf outboard of the nightstand, following by a chest of burlwood drawers with a countertop and two opening stainless steel portholes above.  Sliding Soji screens provide privacy and muted daylight.  Next forward is a hanging locker followed by a vanity with stool and four drawers on the forward bulkhead.

To port is the entrance to the private Master Head and two double teak louvered doors which conceal the yacht’s laundry center, a Bosch washer and separate Bosch dryer.  Normally housed in the Lazarette the laundry is now very easily accessed.

There are ample DC overhead lights, additional drawer storage available under the berth and a second entrance to the Engine Room which is very handy.  TV was removed at Owner's preference.  Could be easily replaced.  Very nice watercolor where TV was located.

Master Head

Also to port the Master Head has an L shaped vanity with two storage cabinets and three drawers below.  The Granite countertop has an under mount sink and a single lever faucet.  The toilet is a full size Headhunter model.

The shower has a clear glass door, a seat, an exhaust fan, a light and a handheld or wall mountable fixture.  Additional cabinets are above the sink below sliding Soji screens covering an opening stainless steel porthole.

Remarks

VALOR is one of, if not the most, striking of the 60/64 Alaskan series. She is Hull #36. Having two extra feet in both the Salon and Aft Deck plus the four foot longer Flybridge add to both the beauty and the function of this Long Range Cruiser.

VALOR has a customized layout to include a larger VIP and a very efficient Office instead of the standard almost unusable small upper and lower Cabin. Instead she has more comfortable sleeping for two on the salon sleeper sofa.  As most Alaskans this one was custom built but it seems her original owners "hit the mark" with many of their custom improvements.

Exclusions

While every effort was made to list all pertinent included equipment aboard VALOR, there are some personal belongings aboard. Prospective purchasers should assume any item not specifically mentioned herein will not convey at closing.
