The Grand Banks 42 Classic remains one of the most popular, practical, and attractive plans in her size. This second generation of the model is longer and wider than her predecessor; the galley has been enlarged with additional counterspace, and the forward stateroom has been given a little more room, as well as have the heads and engine room. Dependable 3116 Cats gives her the capability of getting up and moving when the need arises. She has the desirable Queen Master with the split shower/head arrangement, a nicely equipped galley, well integrated electronics, and an excellent entertainment system. The bottom was barrier coated in 2003, she has excellent service records and is ready to go cruising now..

Decks Decks The teak decks of FINLAGGAN are wide, secure and very well maintained. Moderately high bulwarks and sturdy stainless stanchions and rails provide good protection offshore. A reliable Lofrans windlass can haul or deploy both anchors, and be controlled from foredeck, bridge or lower helm. Heavy duty stainless hardware abounds on deck from bow to stern. Attractive varnished teak cap rails and house trim distinguish the classic look with obvious good maintenance. Leading from the port side deck are stainless railed steps and teak walkway acoss the aft cabin trunk to the spacious bridge deck. Atop the starboard aft cabin trunk is a RIB secured in sturdy stainless and teak chocks with tie downs. The dinghy is hoisted by a multipart tackle system on the stays'l boom. The flybridge will seat quite a crowd, and there is voluminous storage below settees as well as forward in the eyebrow lockers. A fully integrated array of controls and electronics makes this an excellent fair weather helm. Engines The engine room is accessed by a hinged hatch in the salon floor, and also thru a door below the stairs to the forward stateroom. The in-line Cat 3116's leave good room in this space for access on all sides of the engines even with the ancillary equipment otherwise mounted throughout. The general level of maintenance is obvious, and the engines have had documented regular service as well as oil samples performed by Carter Cat of Norfolk, the only Caterpillar owned service franchise.
