49' Krogen Express Overview

Timeless,Classic Style

With her plumb bow, low profile, painted green hullsides, this James Krogen design turns heads wherever she cruises.   The hinged mast brings her height down to 13' 3" making her a great candidate for the 'Great Loop'  .   Her overall height is 21' 7" with the mast up . Taking her cues from Long Island commuter boats of the 1920's, she is always in style and ready to handle whatever cruising conditions she encounters .   This modern interpretation of a traditional coastal cruiser has functional advantages as well .   Her 8 foot high bow stem and broad forward section contribute to a smooth ride in rough head seas and  the hard chines aft limit the rolling motions   .

Old World Craftsmanship

Approach 'Thorvy' from any angle and you will be struck immediately by the fine quality of her stainless and glasswork .   Her beauty and grace is highlighted by just the right amount of teak brightwork, enough to demonstrate her traditional heritage, but not so much that maintenance becomes a burden .   Step in through one of her watertight aluminum doors and her gorgeous cherrywood joinery and teak and holly sole confirms your first impressions.

Livability

Krogen designs are well known for their livability, and 'Thorvy' is no exception .  Many of her 2,500 hours account for brackish and fresh water cruising including the 'Great Loop'  and her home base on the Chesapeake Bay .   Ease of cruising begins with the ease of boarding with large removable boarding gates on both sides of the spacious, covered cockpit as well as generous transom door.   Double water-tight doors lead to the airy salon with large windows, comfortable settee, and nearly 7' headroom !    Her galley up layout featuring a full size refrigerator /freezer with ice maker , and deep stainless sink make meal preparation a pleasure even while underway .  Storage abounds and easy access is provided to take advantage of every available space .   Proceed forward to the raised pilothouse with 240 degree visibility, a true chart table and drawers, and a fully equipped helm console .   The watch berth is elevated to provide optimal forward viewing and converts to a sleeping berth .  The forward master has a centerline queen with storage below....With an en-suite head, two hanging lockers , two dressers, shelf storage, and sit down make-up table .     The guest stateroom / den to starboard has a cherrywood desk and an L-shaped settee that converts to a roomy double berth .   A second full head is convenient for guest or use as a day head .  Include 300 gallons of fresh water, a combo washer/dryer, easy access to systems, including a stand-up engineroom , wide side decks for easy line handling, and you'll find 'Thorvy' to be one of the most exceptional coastal cruisers on the water .

49' Krogen Express Accommodations
