Overview

Oyster have produced some wonderful yachts in the mid forty foot size range including the 435, the HP46, and the 45/47. All have been hand built with the same care, attention and materials as their larger sisters, and offer the versatility of being superb ocean cruising yachts, whilst also offering better access to some more restricted cruising areas, and allowing more straightforward handling and maintenance.

As the first Oyster design by Rob Humphreys in this size range, the 46 represented a move towards a more powerful hull shape, with longer waterline and broader sections aft. This improved form stability, and sailing performance, especially offwind, whilst her increased sail area helps to return enough sensitivity, even in lighter airs, to make her a real sailors yacht.

The Oyster ‘g5’ or fifth generation deck saloon not only increased volume and light below decks, but also gives her a sleek and attractive profile above. Increased beam aft helps creates a larger, allows a large lazarette locker, and also permits a spacious and comfortable owner’s stateroom aft that would shame a much larger yacht.

Good headroom throughout and a spacious three cabin layout sleeps six in comfort, with an additional two sea berths possible in the saloon. The owner’s stateroom enjoys an en-suite head shower, while the forward double and twin cabins share an additional head/shower, which becomes the day head underway. The 46 was an immediate success, twenty-nine were launched between 2005 and 2012, when she was updated to become the new Oyster 475.

This is a beautiful and virtually unused late Oyster 46, with less than 600 engine hours. The next owner will purchase a wonderful example, almost as new below decks with unmarked light oak joinery and traditional teak and holly flooring. She sleeps six in three comfortable cabins, with a further sea berth possible in the saloon.

Sloop rigged with electric in-mast furling to the mainsail and electric winches making her easy to handle. Removable davits, bow thruster, heating, holding tank, freezer and radar plotter feature on her sensible inventory.
