Beautiful Custom Downeast 31:

This 31’ Down East is solid fiberglass, originally built in 1961 as a Pearson. Deckelman’s out of Rock Hall, Maryland custom built a better higher bow with ample flare for a safer drier ride. The boat was also made into a single engine with overbuilt 2” SS shaft and 2.5” SS rudder stock. It has a bullet proof Detroit Diesel 6-71t and runs perfectly. Cruising speed is about 18 knots with a top speed around 28 knots, you can run all day at 15 knots sipping fuel. The engine was changed from a dry stack exhaust to a wet exhaust with a custom SS water jacket, elbow.

October 2014 the boat had a huge refit and looks and runs like new now. The entire boat has been painted inside and out, the decks have been coated in a tough epoxy nonskid and the hull has three coats of primer and three coats of Awlgrip in beautiful Bahamas Blue. The boat has a great new hard top that extends 8’ aft of the house, and has a 6 rod SS rocket launcher on top with flag pole and teak handrails.

The boat has a new kick ass sound system that is all marine grade, blue tooth, USB, Aux or CD. Underwater lights in the transom that can either be blue or white, also new blue under gunwale lighting and new deck floodlights that can be blue or white. There are two new Volvo interceptor trim tabs that can almost burry the bow if you want it to and easily trim out the vessel no matter how it’s loaded.

A new engine box was made with Sound Down installed to keep the engine quiet. It is a “shoe box” design that allows you to easily access the entire engine easily from all sides. There is a commercial large array Furuno Radar, a commercial Furuno GPS, 2 uniden VHF radios and a decent hummingbird fishfinder.

The two forward facing windows open up safari style and the two side windows also slide open. The V berth is comfortable for two people and has a new hatch, new fan, and new overhead lights. There is an extension to the bed adding 2’ with a custom cushion. There is new custom helm and passenger seats with ample storage for supplies etc. New headliner and wiring throughout with additional batteries. The cushions and sun pads are all new Sunbrella custom made to fit the boat perfectly.

This down east runs smooth without pounding in any sea condition. She will get you there safely and comfortably no matter what mother nature throws at you.
