2011 Refit - Overview & Private to Commercial Compliance

The 35m MY Mistral 55 under went a 5 month, multi-million dollar refit starting in November 2010 in Viareggio, Italy at the AR.PE.CA Shipyard managed by the London based company WOSA Yacht Refit Management.

Launching in 2006, this Pershing 115 was taken to AR.PE.CA Shipyard inside the port of Viareggio for extensive exterior, interior and technical work to make the yacht like new & to improve functionality.

A significant percentage of exterior work was carried out to convert her from a private vessel into a commercial one so that she could be chartered. Commercial compliance required installation of safety equipment, including the addition of exterior stainless railings, storm shutters, and life raft positions and new cleats installed on the bulwark.

Commercial requirements also called for new steaming light & NUC lights to be repositioned forward amidships at a specific height.

Maintenance on the hydraulic systems, including that of the passerelle, side boarding ladder, swim ladder and foredeck bimini, was also carried out.

2011 Refit - Exterior Improvements

Aesthetically, MY Mistral 55's hull and parts of the superstructure were repainted with the original Pershing color, DuPont McClaren silver.

The teak deck on the stairs and swim platform were completely replaced, while new solid teak aft & foredeck tables were installed to replace the smaller originals.

The sunbathing area on the flybridge was given added shade with the installation of a bimini with carbon fiber poles.

The original anchor pocket covers were also removed and replaced with stainless steel anchor pockets and the hull protection plate englarged.

2011 Refit - Interior Improvements

MY Mistral 55, which accommodates eight guests in four cabins, had part of her interior upgraded.

The main concern was the open area salon/dining room, which, due to the fixed furniture, made it difficult for crew to move around the dining table and the same problem also restricted the space in the salon.

By removing the parquet flooring in the salon/dining room and installing tracks on which the lounge furniture and dining table could move forward & aft, it allowed the dining room to be opened up, creating additional room in the salon. The salon's ceiling was also raised to create extra space.

Further work in the salon included the removal of the TV, which was replaced with a 70" HD TV in a custom cabinet. This upgrade was part of the complete audio-visual system refurbished to allow the entire system to be controlled via iPads, which are provided in every cabin of the yacht and come with custom graphics specifically for Mistral 55.

The owner's space was also upgraded: the parquet flooring in the owner's cabin was replaced due to wear and a more powerful Turkish steam bath was included in the updated bathroom.

The owner's study/playroom had an opening sunroof installed along with a new door cut through one of the bulkheads into the day heads to convert the study into extra guest accomodations when needed.

The study has an en-suite bathroom, wardrobe space and pull-out bed.

For guests, new cabinetry was added in the guest hallway and LED lights installed to improve the lighting.

2011 Refit - Engine & Machinery Maintenance

Work on the engine room included the servicing of machinery including:

  • Kamewa/Rolls-Royce Jets
  • Vericore TF50 Turbine Generators
  • the main engines (2 MTU 16V4000 M90 diesels)
  • Bow Thruster

The engine room floor plates were galvanized and ventilation & genset covers painted.

Amendments were also made to the monitoring systems, with fire and gasoline sensors installed in the fore & aft garages.

A 360 degree CCTV camera system was installed on the mast.

All of these features were integrated into the central system onboard.

Summary:

MY Mistral 55, far & away, the best high performance yacht on the market and the only performance yacht for sale with speeds in excess of 50 knots.

She combines style with grace, and with her gas turbine humming while underway at 52 knots nobody will come close to catching you.

Due to her upgrades, whether private or charter guests, can enjoy an amazing night-club vibe with the audio-visual and special effects lighting late into the night.

The current owner has invested a large amount of time & money into assuring that MY Mistral 55 is ready for her new buyer that will not need to invest any money into improvements for years to come.

She is a must see, that is maintained by a professional crew at all times.

The owner has purchased his next yacht which he will be taking delivery of in the near future thus forced to sell as he does not want to be a two yacht owner.
