General Construction

A carvel flush welded aluminium hull and house works, built with 1⁄4” marine aluminium alloy plate and all frames are of 1⁄4” flat bar or angles. The hull has 5 water tight compartments with solid bulkheads between, plus the collision bulkhead forward. Two bulkheads have water tight doors fitted for access through them. The housework is built flush to the hull sides with large windows fitted all around.

The main deck is built with three levels, the covered but open after deck is the main entrance and muster area. From here there is a single step up into a lounge area with a solid double pane 71/2’ long x 33” high side windows. Forward there are two steps up onto the large dining area which has 4 – 38” x 36” slide opening double pane windows in each side. Further forward there is a galley with the companionway up the starboard side. In this companionway a stairway leads up to the wheelhouse and upper after deck and further forward is the food serving area which has 61/2’ long x 33’ wide solid double windows in each side as well as 3 – 40” x 48” windows across the front of the cabin. There is also a companionway out of the port side of the galley leading forward to the food serving area..

On the centerline, where the steps from the lounge to the dining floor are there is a stairway leading down to a long companionway with 6 cabins opening off as well as 4 lockers. There is a watertight bulkhead at midway fitted with a full height Manly watertight, hinged, single action door. The after two cabins on each side share adjoining washrooms with shower and the forward two cabins have complete ensuite washrooms. All the cabins are fitted with double beds. The four lockers contain freezer, laundry, hot water tank and general storage. The four after cabins are now used for general storage of catering supplies.

Off the starboard side forward is a stairway down to a large masters cabin with a walk around queen bed and full ensuite washroom fitted with a full sized bath tub and a walk- in closet. Ahead of this are guest washrooms on each side of the companionway at forward is a 4 dogged watertight door leading into a double berth crews quarters. These are presently unused.

The wheelhouse is quite compact but has good visibility and ample room for two watch personnel. There are two other helm and control stations, one up above the wheelhouse to the port side and another on the after deck to the port side.

The main entrance to the cabin is through a full, plate glass bulkhead with a 48” wide sliding glass door. There are also two 27” x 87” slide opening doors off each side of the food serving area for access to the forward deck and outside those doors are also built in steps up to the upper deck.

The upper deck area is behind the wheelhouse and up 4 steps through a hatchway. It is covered 2/3rds of the way back and there are bar tables with high stool chairs arranged with a small bar area to the port forward corner. Further aft there are three steps down to an open boat deck area surrounded by pipe railings where the is bench seating, a boat davit and the inflatable life raft is secured.

The interior finish is carpeted floors throughout the lounge and dining area as well as through the accommodations. Wood plank flooring is used through the companionways and into the food serving area with tile in the galley, vinyl wall covering and acoustic tile deck head with recessed incandescent lighting. The window frames, trim and interior hand rails are solid oak.
