Overview
The Valiant 40 is one of the most highly regarded and sought after
offshore performance yachts ever built. Bob Perry's ground breaking
design revolutionized the blue water class and the Valiant quickly
gained the reputation of being a fast, serious ocean going
passage-maker. With a new head sail, running rigging and serviced engine
Sea Hawk is ready to sail today, but she is in need of spit, polish and
maintenance. To the right sailor who appreciates value and is willing to
expend some time and effort, she represents a unique opportunity to
acquire a world class yacht at an exceptional price point.
Walkthrough
COCKPIT:
The roomy cockpit with 360 degree seating for at 6 to 8
features an Yacht Specialties Wheel & Binnacle with a Ritchie
Compass, engine throttle and gear shift port, starboard. A pedestal
mounted cockpit table, stowed in the starboard bench locker, can be
easily assembled when needed. The Westerbeke Engine control panel is
found on the forward well wall, with warm up/start buttons on the cabin
bulkhead.
The canoe stern features a stainless steel railing
and outboard engine mount. A Horse Shoe throwable pfd is attached on the
starboard.
Two built in storage compartments can be found port
and starboard. Additional storage is provided by a Lazarette locker and
in port and starboard under seat lockers. Two cockpit speakers can be
found port and starboard.
Two Barient 32 self tailing winches
are mounted port and starboard for jib trim, with additional Lewmar 25,
Lewmar 40 and Barient 23 winches mounted on the cabin top. Runing
rigging leads into the cockpit. Wind/speed/depth/autohelm
instrumentation is mounted cabintop bulked.
The cockpit is protected from the sun by a Bimini top.
TOPSIDES:
The
deck is protected by Stainless Steel Stern and Bow Railings connected
by dual lifelines running the length of the deck port and starboard;
gates are found midship just forward of the cockpit, port and starboard.
Hand Rails run along the cabin top, port and starboard. The Plow anchor
is bow mounted with a windless deck mounted.
The single
spreader rig features Roller Furling, Spinnaker Track, installable
Cutter Stay and cabin top mounted Main Sheet/Traveler. The standing
rigging is stainless cable. Much of the running rigging was replaced in
2016.
Cleats are found at the bow and stern, with an additional cleat mounted on the port cabin top track.
MAIN CABIN:
Descending
the companionway from the cockpit, the aft cabin is found to port, with
full length lockers to starboard. Moving forward the the galley is
found to port and the nav station to starboard, followed by a seating
area featuring straight bench seats, port and starboard. A fold down
table is mounted on the forward bulkhead. There is a Teak & Holly
Sole throughout.
GALLEY:
The U-Shaped Galley features a
double stainless steel sink with hot and cold running water, a
Hillerange oven/stove, and an icebox equipped with Alder Barbour
refrigeration. Ample storage cabinets are provided throughout.
NAV STATION:
The
forward facing nav station features a chart table, bench seat, radio
& navigation electronics and the main electrical panel.
HEAD:
The
head is found forward of the salon on the port side with full length
locker opposite on starboard. The head, which converts to a shower,
features a manual marine toilet, stainless steel sink w/hot & cold
running water, cabinets & mirror.
FORWARD CABIN:
The forward cabin features a V-Berth bunk for 2. Under bunk storage, and full length lockers on the starboard side.
AFT CABIN:
The
aft cabin is found on the port side. It features a a two person quarter
berth, bench seat and small locker. Engine access is provided under and
above the bench seat.

Accommodations
Sea Hawk provides sleeping accommodations for 6 people in 4 berths.

Head
The combined head and shower stall is located on the port side forward
of the salon with an outward opening folding door and a full locker
