Overview

BIG IRON III is a beautiful Viking 43 Open, Plan A, with factory hardtop. She has spent most of her life in fresh water, hauled and stored 9 months of the year. Since arriving in California, she has received constant upgrades and pampering, including new exterior soft goods. Super clean, well-outfitted, fast and tough, she represents an incredible value in a premium express sportfisherman.

In today's market, a 40'-50' premium, sea-kindly, high performance sportfisherman of recent vintage can cost up to $2,000,000. Savvy boat buyers looking for all the benefits of a premium boat, without the hefty price tag, look to quality brokerage boats to get them safely out to the fishing grounds quickly and in comfort. The best buy, in all economies, is a high quality boat from a builder with a sterling reputation, that has been well maintained and used, and sensibly upgraded. BIG IRON IV is just such an offering. She shows like a much newer boat, yet affordably delivers the Viking performance, ride, and quality construction that makes brokerage Vikings desirable in any market, and in any location.

If you're not in Southern California, don't worry. This boat can be trucked or shipped to nearly any fishing grounds on the planet.

Boat Highlights

The Viking 43 Open was built to fill a niche in a popular size open sportfisherman. Large enough to go offshore and hunt the big ones, yet agile enough to be handled by one or two people, with ease of operation and great sightlines. Competing at the time with all the other super premium boatbuilders (Bertram, Hatteras, Tiara), the Viking bested all of them with more fuel, better range, higher speeds, and more beam, which made her seem like a bigger boat, yet offered all the performance and maneuverability of a pocket sportfisher.

The major magazines all raved about the Viking at the time:

Motor Boating & Sailing
: "The new Viking 43 Open is good at everything. It's built for versatility....The result is a boat that's as strong and seaworthy as a sportfisherman, as open and stylish as a Riviera speedboat, and as liveable as many convertibles."

Power & Motoryacht
: "..the 43 isn't just rough-water capable, she's built to withstand considerable punishment...No matter how you look at her, the 43 Open is a top-quality sportfisherman with a fit and finish to match."

Marlin
: "Her fish box is huge, almost as wide as the 113-square foot cockpit....Perhaps the most noteworthy difference on the Viking is her centered helm station, intended to offer improved visibility at all points forward."

Remarks

BIG IRON IV is a well maintained and lightly used, pedigreed, open sportfisherman. She spent most of her time in the Great Lakes and shows it. Clean, sharp lines with an aggressive posture, this fish-raiser is as comfortable offshore as she is at the club. Her decor has been upgraded to current standards, and she shows like a MUCH newer boat, but at a fraction of the price. BIG IRON IV can be considered to be an excellent value in an ultra-premium offshore fisherman.
Owner's new boat has arrived, conveniently making this beautiful Viking available to her new owner at the start of the fishing season. Recent sea trials and surveys attest to her condition and performance. LLC-owned.

Note to out-of-state buyers, she CAN be trucked cross-country.
