Overview

Founded in 1967 by Ben and Leidy Vermeulen, West Bay Yachts has been a family in business for over 46 years. The timeless West Bay SonShip was designed by Ben Vermeulen, stylist Glade Johnson and Naval Architect Howard Apollonio.
The West Bay SonShip 58 has a sleek Mediterranean look and as with all West Bays, the 58 offers comfort, safety and performance.  The 58’ is West Bay’s most popular model with 87 built to date.

The West Bay SonShip 58 has proven itself as one of the best family cruisers available, not only for the layout and living amenities, but for the quality of the fit and finish. Factor in the wide side decks, full stand-up engine room with great access to all equipment, huge cockpit with vast lazarette storage and swim platform, and the large open fly bridge. All cruising features that make the 58 such a great cruising yacht in the Pacific Northwest.

And this West Bay SonShip 58’ Pilothouse 1998 is no exception. Highlighting “Dolce Vita” distinctions include the reliable MAN D2866LE401 600hp mains, ZF IRM 350 AL transmissions with 2.63:1 ratio, Onan 20MDKAE 20kW genset with soundshield, Prosine 3kW inverter, Wesmar RS400 stabilizers, 2 Espar D8L diesel furnace heat climate systems, Wesmar hydraulic bow thruster, Garmin full navigation system(2017), Sea Recovery SRC1200AC 1,200 gpd watermaker, Nick Jackson 1,500lb hydraulic lift, boom luff & power rotation yacht crane and a Apex A12 center console tender with a Tohatsu 50hp outboard. Also new interior by Pacific Custom Interiors(2017).

Accommodations

“Dolce Vita” sleeps (6) owners and guests in (3) staterooms with (2) heads.

The layout is as follows:

The spacious salon complimented by large windows is entered from the cockpit through double doors and affords the use of a true full sized U-shaped sofa to port with Coach leather chair and ottoman to starboard. Custom cabinetry hides the Zenith flat screen computer monitor and separate computer system for the entire state of the art computer and audiovisual entertainment needs. Also hidden is the icemaker and wet bar. Custom lambrequins frame the 2” wood blinds and Phantom Roll screens hide in the double entry doors from the cockpit. The riff cut honey cabinetry is enhanced with brass hardware and custom trim.

The galley is located to port on the pilothouse deck. The L-shaped dinette is to starboard and features a factory custom, raised dinette to enhance unobstructed visibility while seated. Storage abounds in the cabinetry above and below. Custom upholstery enhances the settee and the entire galley occupies it’s own special place allowing the appliances to remain separate from the luxury of the main salon. An elegant stairway leads from this area to the fly bridge for beautiful access.

The pilothouse is raised and occupies centerline viewing from a Stidd seat with unobstructed views forward and aft, port and starboard. To port and starboard sliding wing doors allow quick and easy access. All systems have been up-graded to state of the art computer navigation and seamless interfacing with autopilot.

Located below and forward, this VIP suite hosts guests in an island queen berth with abundant cabinetry of matching golden wood, indirect lighting, custom trim and wall coverings, cedar lined closet, overhead hatch with hidden screens and an adjoining head and shower with seating.

The third stateroom is located below amidships to port of the passageway. The mid-stateroom contains 2 adult berths, over and under with custom lighting from Canalupi, opening airy port, cedar lined closet and abundant storage in drawers and cabinetry with ¾ length mirror.

Located amidships is the master stateroom, which features an en suite head with shower and a custom oversized queen berth. Custom cabinetry includes a desk, built-in audiovisual, 2 cedar lined closets, one walk in and a separate compartment for stand-up washer and dryer. The generous en suite head is to port with full shower and watercloset
