Overview & Accomodations

Crazy Ivan" is one of the nicest Downeast boats I have had the pleasure to represent.  Maintained by a very knowledgeable boatyard and staff for the owner, she has seen many custom features and additions not seen in other Legacy 40's or 42's.  She has glistening Awlcraft painted hullsides and bootstripe done in a classic navy with red accent that offset the white topsides.  The exterior teak toe rail and grab rails have been left natural for easy maintenance but could be coated with varnish if desired.  Her interior teak including on the bridge/helm deck is finished in a high gloss finish.

The owner had a custom extended sun shade fabricated with a stainless frame and rigid navy blue canvas.  The swim platform and decks provide ease of maintenance constructed with fiberglass and a non-skid finish.  Cockpit and helm area carpet was custom made with high grade bound finish.   The helm chairs and L-shaped companion seating on the helm deck are finished in a very sharp blue ultraleather and the helm chairs themselves were custom fabricated with beautiful polished stainless steel bases.  The helm deck area is hard enclosed on three sides with the aft end having a beautifully constructed polycarbonate curtain system on slide tracks making it easy to keep climate controlled but also a breeze to open up.  A custom 16,000BTU AC and Heat system was installed and it has the low draw startup option so it is very quite.   This system is more than powerful enough to keep this area climate controlled even on the hottest days.  Access to the bow is very smooth thanks to well placed grab rails and very wide sidedecks.  Crew will certainly appreciate how safe it is moving forward to handle lines or simply to go enjoy a sunset while sitting up at the bow at anchor.

Inside the cabin you can not help be impressed by the high gloss joinery work, teak and holly floors and fine finishes.  The galley is immediately to port upon entry and there is a large L-shaped settee/dinette to starboard.  Forward there is a head with stall shower to port.  The master stateroom is forward with a centerline berth, cedar lined hanging lockers, and plenty of cabinet and drawer space.

Manufacturer Provided Description

Substantial yet very sporty, the Legacy 40 Sport Express is an exceptional runabout. Her bridgedeck and cockpit are large and comfortably appointed, and visibility from the helm is excellent for even the shortest crew member. Though the engine compartment is directly underfoot, careful insulation and baffles keep noise levels well in check. A large, hydraulic-assisted hatch provides access to the engine. . To starboard there is a curved settee, a table that does double duty at dining height or cocktail height, an entertainment center, and room for dish stowage. To port, there's a properly outfitted galley with a sizable refrigerated icebox, two-burner stove and double stainless sinks. A well-sized head compartment is just forward with stall shower. In the forward stateroom, there's a roomy island double berth with plenty of stowage beneath and in two hanging lockers.
