49 Meridian 490 Pilothouse

49' Meridian Motor Yacht ORION
Always known as a great value boat this pilothouse motor yacht offers comfort and ease of operation. The large pilothouse lets the skipper run the boat in any weather in air conditioned or heated comfort.  The raised pilothouse design makes it only four steps up to the flybridge or four steps down to the galley. This boat, owned by an engineer, has been meticulously cared for and shows great attention and care. The 49' Meridian motor yacht ORION was originally a fresh water boat from Canada, the boat has only been south two years. Canadian registered, US built, new US Customs entry, available to US residents. THE SELLER SAYS HE IS VERY MOTIVATED!

Pilothouse

Entrance to the pilothouse is from sliding doors from both port and starboard allowing the skipper ease of deck access when docking. The pilot helm seat can be moved around for extra versatility and is located at the centerline for good visibility to either side. An updated Garmin 7212 touch screen plotter was installed in 2013 along with an updated Garmin autopilot and VHF radio. Both air conditioning and heat make this comfortable year round.
Behind the helm seat is a wraparound bench seat with expandable table, a great place to use a laptop with more privacy than the salon, or a place for meals. Off to starboard is the electrical panel with breakers and meters, all hidden away from view behind doors to make this look like furniture rather than an electrician’s work station.Four steps lead up to the flybridge making it easy to access compared to older boats with ladders.

  • Garmin 7212 Touchscreen Plotter and Radar August 2013
  • Garmin GHC 20 Autopilot August 2013
  • VHF with Automatic Identification System Receiver linked to Garmin Plotter
  • Stereo System w/CD
  • Vetus Bow Thruster
  • Raymarine Tri Data Depth finder
  • Sea Star hydraulic steering
  • Cummins electric engine controls
  • AM/FM stereo radio new March 2015

Galley

Down four steps from the pilothouse is the main salon with an open galley to the main salon so when the cook is in the kitchen, he or she is part of the activities in the salon. The galley is a great layout that has a refrigerator with freezer, Electric 3 burner cooktop with Oven, Microwave, Trash Compactor and a Stainless Steel Double Sink. Countertops are Custom Solid Surface and there is LOTS of Cabinet space along with Teak and Holly Flooring.

  • Norcold Ac/Dc Refrigerator W/freezer
  • Karadon Custom Counters
  • GE Spacemaker Microwave
  • Princess Cooktop W/Oven
  • Dual Stainless Sinks
  • Teak/Holly Floor
  • GE Compactor
  • Ice Maker

Main Salon

The most striking feature of the salon is the large expanse of windows to let in light and give a great view of the ocean passing by when underway or the goings on at the marina or on the hook. Full window blinds can be used for sun protection or privacy but there are also full sun covers on all of the windows that allow you to look out but keep the sun from coming in.
Across from the galley is a counter area with ice maker and a storage cabinet then an “L” shaped couch that converts into a double berth for guest overflow. A beautiful high gloss wood table at the couch can be moved for versatility and on the other side of the boat is a chair to complete the conversation area. High gloss wood cabinets here add to the plentiful storage areas. Opposite this is the entertainment center with flat screen TV with satellite antenna and sound system.
Aft is a sliding door to the covered cockpit with large hatches leading to more storage and the Onan 13.5 kw generator with only 230 hours as of April 1, 2015. With the generator so far aft, both the guests and the owners in the forward stateroom will not hear the genny if running at night. There is a large door to the swim platform so boarding from low floating docks will be easy or from fixed docks at the pilothouse level. There is a ladder to the flybridge to give a second way of accessing the bridge in addition to the stairs in the pilothouse.

Staterooms

Just a few steps down from the main salon /galley is access to the three staterooms. The master is forward with a centerline queen berth and ensuite head with tub and shower. Two overhead deck hatches let in natural light.
The second guest stateroom has a double berth with ample storage below. The second head for this cabin doubles as the day head as it is located in the hallway.
The third stateroom has a unique design that makes great space for the grandchildren with upper and lower bunks. However there is a second door from the master cabin into this cabin to make this a dressing area almost a walk in closet. With two couples on board this gives lots of storage space adjacent to the master.
Along this hall from the main salon to the master is a built in washer dryer confidently located here rather than in a cabin or below the floor like some models.

Flybridge and deck

Access to the Bimini covered flybridge is from four steps from the pilothouse or a ladder in the cockpit. The steps in the pilothouse are real steps, not a ladder, making access easy and convenient. The flybridge helm station has it all with full instrumentation. The skipper has his own helm chair and guests and family have an L shaped settee immediately behind the helm with an additional chaise style couch to starboard. The access from the back deck has a sliding cover to prevent an accidental fall down the ladder and to keep the back deck dry in rain and shaded from the sun.
There is a 750 pound capacity davit crane with chocks for a dinghy but no dinghy is included.
