This is a very well maintained Classic Merritt 46 by a full time captain who has been with the owner for over 25 years. This Merritt has caught numerous world records fishing from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to the Caribbean with a very knowledgeable owner.
Repowered in 2007 with new Cummins engines & electronic controls to match, and just recently in 2013 she had a Northern Lights 12kw generator installed.
She is fished on a regular basis and docked behind the owners private estate in Islamorada.
Excellent value and ready to be sold to a new owner who can care for her as well as the current.
This Classic 46 Merritt ‘SACHEM’ docked at a private residence in Islamorada she is kept in excellent condition by a full time captain. The current owner repowered her back in 2007 with Cummins QSM diesel engines and has since put 5,000 hours on them fishing from the west coast of Mexico to the Caribbean and Florida Keys setting numerous world records.
Is the 46-foot Merritt the finest fishing boat ever built? From a statistical standpoint, you could make a good argument for the claim. The 46-foot Merritt established more tuna-fishing records, won more tournaments and set more all-tackle marlin records possibly than any boat in history, which is pretty remarkable, considering only 12 were ever built.
The largest blue marlin ever caught on rod and reel in both oceans, as well as the heaviest blue marlin ever caught by a woman, were records held by Merritt boats. Until recently, Merritt boats held records for the most giant tuna ever caught in a single day, a record that stood for more than 20 years. At one time the 46-foot Merritt owned both the all-tackle Atlantic and Pacific blue marlin records. And no single model boat ever won as many tuna tournaments at Cat Cay as the 46-foot Merritt. The boat, the fishermen and captains who spun them 360 degrees to chase down fish are all part of the mystique of the 46.
