Overview

Italian builder Sanlorenzo worked closely with Officina Italiana Design to give its newest model, the SL78, several forward-looking design features that will eventually work their way through its entire line. The redesigned bow area—which includes lounges, a table, sunbathing areas, and even a sun shade—transforms what is typically empty space into a functional social area. The upper deck offers one of the widest and best arranged spaces in its category with sunbeds, a glass rail astern for unobstructed views and a table for al fresco dining under a sporty-looking hardtop.

A Sanlorenzo Americas exclusive, the SL78 Sag Harbor Edition includes an electro hydraulic folding mast option which allows entry into highly sought after harbors where bridge clearance can be a hindrance. As its name suggests, the need for such a market leading technological innovation was identified in Sag Harbor, NY; a yachting hot-bed in the summers and an office location of Sanlorenzo Americas.

The designers also included larger windows in the hull and superstructure to increase natural light and the sense of interior space. The large windows, combined with lowered bulwarks, provide unobstructed views from the main saloon. The SL78’s full-beam master stateroom also has windows to the sea, as do the three other guest staterooms below-decks.

The sleek lines of the new SL78 are further enhanced thru the minimalistic interior designed by Marty Lowe. Mid-century modernism is evoked featuring a balanced mixture of contemporary styling. Subtly restrained stained oak woodwork and soft lacquers are juxtaposed against a dramatically imperfect and irregular plank flooring which shows the track of the saw cutting creating unique overlaps of color effects and texture.

Fashioned with modern elegance and undertones of minimalism, this sophisticated décor features well-tailored furniture and fixtures by Minotti, RH modern, Flos, Zucchetti and Roda. The stone dining table is surrounded by the iconic, award winning DU 3 chair designed by Rinaldi in 1953 and recently reintroduced by Poltrana Frau. Supple leathers deftly layered with luxurious Italian embroidered linens and cashmere add yet another dimension to this rich décor scheme.

The technical features on the SL78 are the same as the SL86 and of most of the larger SL line motoryachts including the flagship SL118 without foregoing quality. Features such as floating floors and ceilings ensure comfort with reduced vibration and noise while the vacuum infusion process produces an optimized hull and superstructure. Further technical enhancements optioned by Sanlorenzo Americas include 60hz cycle US electric, Tier 3 compliant MTU engines, tropical A/C, twin generators, and other redundant systems promising peace of mind cruising regardless of location.
