Overview
Shannons built in Bristol Rhode Island are highly regarded for their exceptional strength, classic styling, comfortable interiors and functional deck layouts. Many Shannons have circumnavigated and their owners praise the sea kindly motion, excellent direction control, stability, and the numerous sail combinations offered with the ketch sail plan. The builder Shannon Boat Company was featured in Mate's Worlds Best Sailboats and yachts built by the company have sailed over 1 Million ocean miles.
Jambo Jambo a 2010 Pilothouse 52RDP (Raised Deck Pilothouse) is one of the finest examples of their more recent quality performance offshore cruising designs. Her current and original owner went to Shannon with specific combination of requirements (not all offered by other quality builders in the 50 class).. These included: pilothouse with helm station and comfortable settees, twin engine power for security and maneuverability, ketch rigging with intercoastal bridge clearance, 3 staterooms including large aft master suite, two heads both with stall showers and shoal draft keel with centerboard.
All of these elements were incorporated in Jambo Jambo a new Shannon RDP design. The proven Shannon 50 hull was extended and widened aft. A complete new deck mold was designed and built with a pilothouse, large cockpit and swim platform. The cutter rigged ketch sail configuration was selected because it's optimal for both light and heavy air conditions, especially sailing single handed or by a couple.
Shannon Boat Company is well known for their exquisite interior woodwork and Jambo Jambo's beautifully varnished cherry joinery is a excellent example. Whether you are at sea or at anchor there are few yachts that compare. Highlights of features are pilothouse with helm station and settees, navigation center, spacious galley, twin engines, large cockpit with second helm station, inter-coastal friendly ketch rig with headsail and staysail, shoal keel with less than 6' draft with option to lower a centerboard to enhance upwind performance.
