Vessel Overview

The Tartan 4400 is a raised saloon, two stateroom cruiser with every conceivable cruising amenity:  draft is only 5’6”, the carbon rig is “Intracoastal friendly”.   Performance under sail is exhilarating. With fully powered sail controls and bow thruster, one couple could cruise very comfortably in most conditions.  Guest accommodations will tempt guests to overstay.   Light seasonal use only, condition is impeccable.

Accommodations

FOOLISH HEART is a handsome, raised saloon design by Tim Jackett that includes two gracious staterooms and heads, fore and aft, with a bright and inviting main saloon space amidships.  Trim and cabinetry is fashioned of North American cherry with satin varnish.  Cabin soles are of teak and holly, headliners are white vinyl with recessed lighting.   All hatches are fitted with Imtra Skyscreens, with accordion-style blinds for all portlights.  Overall fit and finish is superb.

The Owner’s cabin is forward with a centerline berth  (custom innerspring mattress), abundant drawer and hanging storage and private access to the forward head compartment.  Four opening ports and an overhead hatch provide light and ventilation.  Owner’s head compartment, aft and to starboard of the cabin, is of generous dimensions and includes a separate shower stall.

Next aft to port is the galley, configured in an efficient “U” shape and situated on the vessel’s axis which minimizes motion at sea. Galley components include:

Force 10 LPG stove with oven and broiler

Tappan stainless microwave

Granicote counters with integral double sinks

Top and side opening refrigerator with separate freezer compartment cooled by a Technautics 12V system

Fitted dish and cup storage

Custom fold-down dish strainer

One step up from the galley area is the main saloon with an oval shaped settee to port, served by a hi-lo table, which could easily accommodate six.  Upholstery is blue Ultra-suede. Opposite to starboard is the forward-facing nav station.

Aft of the nav station is passage to the aft cabin.  Amenities include a double berth, accessible from both side and foot.  As with the forward cabin, all available space is apportioned for storage with lockers, hanging space and drawers.  The aft head is immediately to port at the foot of the companionway.

FOOLISH HEART is hull # 5 of the 4400 series and her experienced owners played an active role in incorporating refinements in the interior spaces, enhancing storage, lighting and convenience.
