Overview

THE MIDNIGHT SUN has undergone a series of extensive refits and upgrades each winter since 2005 at Philbrooks Boatyard and Lake Union Boat Repair. From the top of her mast to the keel, every part of the vessel is thoroughly inspected, repaired as needed, and refinished. She looks like a brand-new yacht! Additionally, there have been major upgrades to her navigation and electrical systems. Last season included removing, inspecting and re-balancing the propeller shafts, drive-line overhauls, refurbishment of the salon and pilothouse doors, crew cabin refurbishment, a thorough refrigeration system check and new domestic water pumps. Last winter we were at Lake Union again for a new generator, new paint on the pilot house and part of the foredeck, new built-in freezer, and a new depth sounder/fish finder. At Philbrooks she has had a new propeller shaft installed and the props dynamically balanced. Each winter we work to make her look like a completely new boat! Last spring we installed a new Maxwell windlass. Most items on the engines have been rebuilt or replaced such as turbos, pumps, injectors, intercoolers , heat exchangers starters and alternators. Scania technicians looked at the maintenance records, oil sample results and checked out the engines and asked to be contacted after another 5,000 hours.
